]]>Instead, Genesis’ reunion comes in the shape of a commercially successful lineup, which consists of Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks, and Daryl Stuermer. And the band feels really good about this decision.
“I think a reunion with Steve and Pete would be uphill,” said Collins in a recent interview with Mojo. “Playing with Mike and Tony is the easy option.”
Rutherford acknowledged that die-hard fans would like to see the original lineup on stage together, but also thinks that the majority of the audience actually loves their later stuff: “Peter left so long ago. I really don’t know what we could do with him now.”
Finally, Banks believes that the reunion with Gabriel would be “weird.”
“As much as I love those early albums, it would be weird to just do songs from that period,” he said.
Gabriel served as Genesis’ vocalist since its formation in 1967 until 1975, when he left the band to pursue a solo career. His last performance with other members of the group came during a one-off show in 1982. Hackett, on the other hand, played with the band from 1971 to 1977.
Genesis will embark on their The Last Domino? tour in November, and are scheduled to play seventeen dates in the United Kingdom and Ireland. They are expected to tour the United States at some point as well.

]]>Long-time Genesis touring bassist Daryl Stuermer will join in the core members on stage alongside Collins’ son Nic, who will sit behind drums.
The tour, the band’s first since 2007, will consist out of 10 shows that will take place in the UK and Ireland. It starts on November 16th in Dublin and wraps up on December 11th in Glasgow. It is unclear whether more dates will be added at a later time.
The reunion was first hinted back in 2019 when Mike Rutherford made an appearance on Phil Collins’ solo show in Berlin. Rutherford joined Collins on stage to play Genesis’ hit “Follow You Follow Me,” and told the audience that he and other Genesis members are still good friends, and they might get together at some point.
Reunion talks were further sparked in early 2020 when all three members were spotted together at a basketball game, and rumors started circling that they were in the middle of rehearsals.
Genesis’ last show together was on October 13th, when they performed at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl.
