]]>Madlib and Gibbs’ first collaboration record, 2014’s Piñata, also received a similar treatment with instrumental version Piñata Beats coming out shortly after the original.
Bandana was released in the summer, featuring guest appearances from the likes of Pusha T, Anderson Paak, Killer Mike, and Black Thought among others. The production was handled by Madlib and Gibbs alongside Ben “Lambo” Lambert, Eothen, and Alapatt. The record peaked at No.21 at US Billboard 200.
Madlib is keeping himself busy lately, also preparing a new album with his brother and rapper Oh No. The duo, known as Professionals, will release their self-titled debut on January 17th.
Freddie Gibbs, on the other hand, has been mostly focused on performing and working with other artists. His most recent solo work was 2018’s album Freddie.

]]>The album’s release date was revealed via a public stunt on New York City’s Times Square.
As part of the announcement, the pair also shared the album’s new single “Crime Pays” alongside a music video for the song, which was directed by Nick Walker. Check it out below.
Freddie Gibbs and Madlib will be joined by a number of guests on the record, including Pusha-T, Killer Mike, Black Thought and Yasiin Bey.
Freddie Gibbs was quite busy in the last year, as he presented two new albums. He released his fourth studio album, titled Freddie, in the summer of 2018 and then followed that up with Fetti; collaborative album with Curren$y and The Alchemist. Both albums were positively reviewed by the critics although they failed to find major commercial success.
Madlib, on the other hand, wasn’t quite active in recent years. His latest fully produced album was 2015’s Bad Neighbor, which he did in collaboration with M.E.D and Blu. His latest solo release, album Rock Konducta Vol. 1-2, came in 2014.
