The book will contain 72 pieces of artwork revolving around Zappa’s life and containing references and Easter Eggs about his work. The artwork was done by Motörhead: Where is Lemmy? duo David Calcano and Lindsay Lee.

Every record he did gave us a different experience, that was our main inspiration for this book, let your imagination free and color while listening to Zappa music… What’s better than that?”

The Frank Zappa Coloring Book will follow the recent 40th-anniversary reissue of iconic Zappa in New York live album. This new release, which hit the shelves in March, was made available on vinyl as well as a 5CD box set.

Titled “Bizarre World of Frank Zappa”, the hologram tour will feature special appearances from Zappa’s frequent collaborators like Steve Vai, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Ian Underwood, and Warren Cuccurullo.

“As a futurist, and hologram enthusiast, Frank fearlessly broke through boundary after boundary as an artist and in honoring his indomitable spirit we’re about to do it again, 25 years after his passing,” – said Zappa’s son Ahmet Zappa in a statement. “This mind-melting show we’re putting together celebrates the music, often surreal imagery and humor synonymous with Frank. We will be pushing the limits of what anyone has seen holographically on stage before in a live venue. Circumstances, objects, places and subject matter from Frank’s songs and imagination will be brought to life for the first time on stage. We are anthropomorphizing Frank’s music, so his own hand drawn illustrations, classic imagery from his album artwork and characters from his songs can all interact and perform on stage.”

During the “Bizarre World of Frank Zappa”, a never seen before footage of the musician playing in his Los Angeles rehearsal space will be used. Frank Zappa’s hologram will be created by the company credited with a hologram of Ronnie James Dio, which just finished its tour.

During his career, which spanned 30 years, Zappa was known as a productive artist, releasing 62 albums. After his death in 1993, the Zappa Family Trust released an additional 48 albums. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and received Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.
