It seems like Foo Fighters will soon gift us a new record. The group’s frontman Dave Grohl decided to spill the beans on the new album in a recent interview and share that it’s already finished.

Grohl dropped the news on The Bill Simmons Podcast, where he also revealed that the album will contain a riff that he first thought of 25 years ago.

“We just finished making a record,” said Grohl. “Some of those songs, the best ones happen in 45 minutes. Then there’s other songs — there’s a riff on the new record I’ve been working on for 25 years. The first time I demoed it was in my basement in Seattle.”

This isn’t all, however. Grohl also talked about his new documentary, which will talk about bands touring in a van. According to him, the project will feature contributions from some of music’s biggest stars.

“I’ve interviewed everybody,” said Grohl about the documentary. “The Beatles toured in a van, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, U2, everybody has had a van. There’s something about that time, you wear it like a badge.”

The new Foo Fighters album was first confirmed back in October when Dave Grohl told the audience in Brazil that the band will get in the studio after they wrap up their tour. This new record will serve as a follow up to 2017’s Concrete and Gold and will be the band’s 10th LP.

Osheaga Music and Arts Festival is coming back to Montreal this summer and it’ll feature the best lineup we could possibly ask for. Lizzo, Foo Fighters, and Kendrick Lamar will be in charge of headlining this event.

Osheaga will take place over the course of the three-day weekend between July 31st and August 2nd. Parc Jean-Drapeau, located east of downtown Montreal, will once again serve as its main venue.

The announcement of Lizzo’s participation comes shortly after she collected three Grammy Awards, including the best pop solo performance for “Truth Hurts”. She’ll be joined by fellow headliners Foo Fighters and Kendrick Lamar, who already performed at this festival twice.

These three acts aren’t the only reason to be excited about the upcoming edition of Osheaga. The rest of the lineup is equally impressive and pretty diverse. The list of performers also includes Vampire Weekend, Lewis Capaldi, Leon Bridges, French Montana, and Bon Iver, providing a wide range of different genres to every festival-goer at Osheaga.

Boston Calling only announced two of the acts set to perform at the next edition of this festival, but tickets are already a must-have. Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers will be in charge of headlining this event.

Boston Calling will be held for three days at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Boston during the weekend of May 22-24 next year. The entire lineup should include more than 60 artists, and it’s expected to be released in January.

Brian Appel, co-founder and CEO of Boston Calling Events, said they’re proud of being able to bring some of the most influential rock artists to Boston next year, and promised there’s much more to come.

“We have worked for years to bring the Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers to the festival, and this year everything lined up perfectly. We couldn’t be happier, and will complement them with an incredibly diverse lineup of artists throughout the festival weekend,” said Appel in a press release.

We’ve been given hints, we’ve been teased, but it seems that now it’s finally official: Foo Fighters are about ready to start working on their new album!

The confirmation came last week when frontman Dave Grohl told crowds at the Rock In Rio festival that work on the new album will commence once the band returns from Brazil to the US.

“I don’t know when we’ll be back down here again,” Grohl told Foo Fighters’ Brazilian fans, “but we will. We go home next week and we start making a new Foo Fighters record. It’s good, it’s good.”

That Foo Fighters were preparing materials for a follow-up to 2017’s Concrete & God has been known for a while, but this is the first time we were given a concrete timeframe. In August this year, Grohl told NME, “There’s always something. I’m constantly writing but not always seriously, then at some point, they become a little more formed.”

“When I feel like they’re ready, that’s when I bring them to the band. We’re not that far along in any kind of official process, but there’s always something.”

It seems like that certain “something” has coalesced into enough material for the band to hit the studio next week — and we couldn’t be more excited!

More than 3,000 people arrived at the gates of the military base dubbed “Area 51” near Rachel, Nevada after a joke page on Facebook called for people to “storm Area 51” and went viral. Conspiracy theories claim the base holds evidence of extraterrestrial life.

To mark “storm Area 51” day, Foo Fighters released a special concert held on June 18, 2005, at the shuttered Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, New Mexico. Roswell is also associated with UFOs. The set is titled 00050525 Live in Roswell and it contains 7 songs overall, including renditions of “Monkey Wrench,” “All My Life,” and “Stacked Actors.”

The band also shared a poster instructing the fans on the proper behavior in the case of meeting an extraterrestrial (“Be Polite” and “rock out at all times”).

The show in Roswell was a 10th-anniversary show and it followed a contest held by the band after which fans were flown to the base for the show.

The creators of the original facebook page have tried to monetize upon the interest the page garnered and turn it into a music festival titled AlienStock. They gave up the idea when they realized they, as well as the town, would not be able to support such an event. One of the organizers chose to hold an event in Las Vegas instead.

Remember how last week at Reading Festival, Dave Grohl and Tony Hawkins reached out to the crowd to help them get Oasis back together? Well, Noel Gallager has responded.

At their Reading show, it was pointed out that drummer Tony Hawkins had a photograph of Noel and Liam Gallagher on his bass drum. Tony responded by telling the audience that they want Oasis back together.

The band shouted out: “We’re trying. Let’s sign a petition. Everyone here, okay?” Grohl then asked the audience: “How many people wanna see Oasis f**king play a show?”

The stunt was a token of Foo Fighters’ admiration for the legendary Brit-pop band. Noel Gallagher, however, has responded with less than admiration.

At his gig in San Diego, Noel referenced the stunt and called out to the audience: “I’d like to start a petition to get Foo Fighters to split up.”

So if you’re waiting for that Oasis reunion… you might not want to hold your breath.

According to drummer Taylor Hawkins, the Foo Fighters are planning on releasing an album next year.

The Dave Grohl rock band released their last album Concrete and Gold in 2017. The record was their ninth studio album and it has now been revealed that the band is planning album number 10, to be released next year.

It has also been two years since the Queens of the Stone Age released their last album so we can assume that Grohl is currently more focused on his work with the Foo Fighters. Speaking to RockSound.TV, Hawkins said:

“Well, from what I’ve heard from our fearless leader Dave Grohl, he has a lot of demos that he’s worked on and I think we’ll start, once this tour is over. I think not too soon after that we’ll start the process of putting the songs together as a band.”

He added: “It’s a long process, we do a lot of demoing and stuff, but I think that we’ll have, I’m hoping, I think we’ll have a new record by next year. We should.”

Coming up with a stage name is one of the most important steps in the process of being a world-famous musician. Whether you are starting a band or launching a solo career, adopting a stage name can be a make-or-break moment for aspiring musicians.

As history shows it, the best way to get a name is to look for inspiration in pop culture or in your surroundings. But, sometimes, it doesn’t hurt to think outside the box as well. The music world is full of music acts who came up with their stage names in really unusual ways and stories about how they got there can be really crazy and amusing.

This is why we decided to do some digging and present you with crazy true stories behind some of the most famous stage names in music. So let’s check them out.

The Commodores

When in need of words, just turn to the dictionary. This is what the members of The Commodores did when they wanted to name their band. They just took a dictionary and pointed to a random word. According to founder William King, they were lucky as they almost became The Commodes.

Skrillex

Skrillex is now one of the most recognizable names in EDM, but how did American DJ and producer Sonny John Moore come up with it? Well, he just decided to use his AOL Instant Messenger username. If you ask us, it turned out better than expected.

UB40

English reggae/pop band UB40 was formed in 1978 by a group of friends who just finished high school. As they were all jobless at the moment, they were receiving unemployment benefits from the Department of Employment. This is how they ended up getting the inspiration for the name as UB40 is short for Unemployment Benefit, Form 40.

Post Malone

Austin Richard Post couldn’t think of a proper name at the start of his rap career, so he decided to turn to the internet. He used a random rap name generator and ended up with now-famous Post Malone moniker.

Foo Fighters

Dave Grohl decided to go back to history and use World War II terminology when he was starting his band. Foo Fighters was a name that WWII servicemen gave to unidentified flying objects.

Daft Punk

Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo originally had a group named Darlin’, and have contributed two songs to one British compilation under that name in 1993. After one music critic described their music as “a bunch of daft punk,” they knew that they discovered a stage name for success.

Lynyrd Skynyrd

Boys from Lynyrd Skynyrd decided to name their band in honor of their P.E. teacher Leonard Skinner. Naturally, you would think that this is because they loved Skinner. Well, it’s quite the opposite, as Skinner didn’t like boys with long hair and often picked on them.

Moby

Richard Melville Hall didn’t have to look further than his family tree to find a proper stage name. Hall’s great-great-great-uncle is Moby-Dick author Herman Melville, so he though naming himself Moby would be fitting.  We can’t say he was wrong.

Alice Cooper

Although Alice Cooper is now almost solely recognized as the stage name of American singer/songwriter Vincent Damon Furnier, the name was originally given to Furnier’s band. According to the legend, Alice Cooper was a result of Furnier engaging in a late-night session with an Ouija board.

The Foo Fighters are requesting that fans send in their favorite stories of the band as part of an exciting new online project.

The project is titled “Foo Fighters Stories” and the band have reached out to fans on their website, asking them to “tell us your FF story.” This includes memories, videos, and pictures – i.e. anything that relates to Foo Fighters nostalgia.

“We want to hear about YOU,” the website description reads. “Did you capture a great photo of your crew at a Foo show? Have a memory tied to a Foo Fighters album or song? Or maybe just want to send a message to the band?

“We want to meet YOU!! Share your Foo Fighters story and include any photos, videos or memorabilia featuring YOU!”

It is unclear what the band will do with the footage and stories they collect. Fans are predicting they will create a portfolio of some variety which may be available for bands to purchase later on.

If you want to contribute to the project by submitting your Foo Fighters content, you can do so here.

Foo Fighters are full of surprises.

Twenty-four years and a day after releasing their debut album the group dropped a surprise live EP, writing on Twitter, “A good day to look in the Foo Files. How about a few elusive live tracks?”

But that’s not all. The new track also came with the promise of even more on the horizon as the band also teased, “…you never know what we’ve got up our sleeves….”

Titled 00950025, the EP features two rare songs from their 1995 Reading Festival set, “Wattershed” and “For All the Cows.” Also included is the There is Nothing Left to Lose track “Next Year,” recorded at Cold Live at the Chapel in Melbourne, Australia in 2000.

Foo Fighters are currently on tour.
