]]>Welch announced she’s working on something new by posting a video that shows her lounging in a bathtub surrounded by candles, flowers, and art while wearing a mermaid tail. Soft music can be heard playing in the background, and she posted a pre-save link for this song, without sharing any additional details.
Welch’s fascination with the sea and water is nothing new, and she explored this theme through her music in the past. She also told SunSentinel that she spent her childhood fantasizing about Atlantis, mermaids, and a whole new world hiding underwater.
“I was a slightly uncomfortable child and to be underwater was to be graceful and to be submerged in something that was neither good nor bad. It just kind of takes you under, away from something,” she explained.
Welch’s new clip sparked a lot of speculations online, with some assuming the new song hails from The Great Gatsby musical adaptation she is working on while others suggested it could somewhat be connected to the upcoming remake of The Little Mermaid.

]]>This week’s list is defined by pop bops, and that’s not a shocker since Miley Cyrus just gave us a whole new album of them. It’s tough to single out just one best song from Endless Summer Vacation, but we decided to go with its second single “River”.
Pop bops on this week’s list come from every corner of the globe, from South Korea to the UK. Fans of K-pop will be happy to hear TWICE’s latest single “Set Me Free” while Eurovision fanatics have Mae Muller’s breakup anthem “I Wrote A Song” to look forward to.
If you prefer alternative sound, you won’t be disappointed by our list, because we have new releases by Depeche Mode, Tame Impala, and Róisín Murphy to look forward to this week… And don’t even get us started on Florence Welch’s amazing cover of No Doubt’s “Just a Girl”!

]]>Welch broke the news by sharing a video on social media which shows her skimming through her dresses before getting to a jacket with the Yellowjackets logo. She proudly puts it on while a cover of “Just a Girl” plays in the background.
Florence + the Machine leader captioned the video by writing, “So happy I got picked for the team this year.” She received a reply from Yellowjackets’ official Instagram account which reads, “We make one hell of a team.”
“Just a Girl” was originally released back in 1995, as the lead single from No Doubt’s third studio album Tragic Kingdom. It became the band’s first charting single in the United States and went on to reach cult status after appearing in such movies as Clueless and Romy & Michelle’s High School Reunion.
Welch didn’t specify the release date of her cover, but it’s likely we’ll get to hear it before Yellowjackets returns for Season 2 on March 26.

“She performed at the Met nearly a decade ago, and she very graciously told me that it was one of the most extraordinary moments of her life. I am so touched and so grateful that she has agreed to sing for us tonight,” said Wintour while introducing the singer.
Welch performed an acoustic version of her hit The Source cover “You’ve Got the Love”, which originally came out in 2009, and became her first song to enter the top 5 in the UK. Her involvement in this event comes shortly after the release of the charity single “Light of Love”.

]]>Fans of the show immediately fell in love with this harrowing tune, and the band has finally performed it in front of a live audience for the first time.
Florence Welch delivered soulful rendition of the band’s latest hit during a recent concert at Arizona’s FORM Arcosanti Festival.
She gave a shout-out to fan favorite Arya Stark, and dedicated the song to her because she “saved us all.”
“Jenny of Oldstones” was featured during end credits of the second episode of Game Of Thrones’ final season, titled “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”
Showrunners D.B. Weiss and Dan Benioff approached Florence, who was a long time-fan of the show and accepted their invitation because the project seemed intriguing.
“The notes of it sounded like a Celtic folk song to me. I thought it was really beautiful. I love the idea of dancing with ghosts and never wanting to leave. That totally makes sense to me. I feel like I do that every night on stage,” Welch said in an interview with The New York Times.
