]]>Carey recently spoke about the band’s future plans with Metal Hammer magazine, revealing that Tool plans to spend the next couple of years on the road.
“It’s hard to say,” said Carey. “We’re going to tour on this probably for two or three years at least, I imagine. It feels like what we’ve done on every album, and then I guess we’ll see where we’re sitting after that.”
Following the tour, Carey expects them to return to the studio and get another record out.
“My hope is we get in and knock out another record.” – he added. “We have tons of material. It’s not going to take 12 years, or if it does, I’ll probably be so old I probably can’t pick up my sticks anymore! But my hope is we’ll do another record and just keep moving forward.”
Carey explained, however, that the material doesn’t include finished tracks, but riffs, jams, and parts of songs.
Tool released Fear Inoculum on August 30th, with the record becoming both critical and commercial success. The album topped the US Billboard 200 charts while also reaching No.1 in Australia, Belgium, Canada, New Zealand, and Norway.

]]>Tool’s fifth studio album had the biggest week for any rock album in over a year, with 270,000 album-equivalent units sold. This is a colossal success since the band managed to sell 248,000 units in pure album sales without pre-order promotion or ongoing concert tour.
Fear Inoculum is currently Tool’s third studio album to make it to no. 1 on Billboard 200 in the US. They previously topped the chart with their records Lateralus (2001) and 10.000 Days (2006).
After Tool’s triumph on the charts, Taylor Swift’s new album Lover fell to the no. 2 spot, after earning 178,000 equivalent album units during its second week. Lana Del Rey took no. 3 spot with her latest record Norman F—ing Rockwell, but managed to top the charts in the UK.

We are slowly becoming more familiar with Tool’s fifth album. The band took to Instagram to share the image that features the new gold metallic Tool logo over a background that appears to be a coiled snake.
Fear Inoculum was inspired by the number seven.
“I took a picture pointing to the number seven while we were recording, and a lot of the riffs Justin [Chancellor] and I brought in were in seven,” Adam Jones told Guitar World. “You don’t really go, ‘I’m going to write a riff in seven!’…Without being too descriptive about the concept, the main thing is that the seven beat just kept coming up, and riffs in seven kept coming up. It was really weird!”
Fear Inoculum is the follow-up to 2006’s 10,000 Days.
