]]>Taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest is a dream come true for Alexander, and he promised he’s going to give it everything he’s got and put on an excellent and unforgettable performance.
“As a young boy, I always looked forward to this incredible event of unbridled joy, the wonderfully chaotic mix of musical styles, theatrical performances, heartfelt emotion, and humor. I really can’t believe I’m going to be a part of such a special legacy,” said Alexander in a statement.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, head of entertainment at the BBC, described Alexander as “the perfect ambassador for the UK as both an immensely talented and world-renowned artist and passionate fan of the competition.”
Alexander is best known as the singer of the pop band Years & Years, which has been operating as his solo project for the past two years. He achieved two No. 1 albums in the UK under this moniker, including Communion and Night Call, in addition to topping the singles chart with their breakout hit “King”.

]]>Martin Österdahl, the executive supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, announced their selection in an official statement, adding that Malmö felt like a perfect choice after hosting the contest both in 1992 and in 2013 following Loreen’s last win.
“Malmö holds a special place in the history of the Contest… We’re excited to be returning to this vibrant and dynamic city which has demonstrated it has the venues and infrastructure that are perfect for staging the world’s largest live music event,” said Österdahl.
Ebba Adielsson, SVT’s executive producer of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, added that they received strong, compelling, and creative proposals from several cities. Malmö was eventually chosen because it provides a location with great venues, where everyone attending the contest can move around easily.
The 68th Eurovision Song Contest will take place at the Malmö Arena after Swedish singer Loreen made history as the first woman to win the competition twice with her song “Tattoo”.

Finish singer Käärijä, who came in second at the Eurovision with his viral hit “Cha Cha Cha”, also made an impact on the chart, hitting the No. 6 spot. Despite her disappointing Eurovision ranking, Mae Muller’s “I Wrote A Song” surged to No. 9, and she was followed by the Norwegian singer Alessandra with “Queen of Kings” at No. 10.
The rest of the UK Singles Chart for this week mostly consists of beloved British acts, including Ed Sheeran’s “Eyes Closed” and Lewis Capaldi’s “Wish You the Best”, but it also features TikTok sensation David Kushner at No. 3 with “Daylight”.

Daði Freyr was one of the favorites coming into the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest and everyone was raving about his viral hit “Think About Things”. It all went downhill after the contest was canceled in the face of the COVID pandemic, and the replacement song “10 Years” failed to replicate its success, finishing in the fourth spot.

]]>Next year’s Eurovision Song Contest is now set to take place at the Liverpool Arena between May 9-13, 2023. This announcement comes after the UK agreed to host Eurovision on behalf of Ukraine due to security concerns caused by the Russian invasion of this country.
Eurovision Song Contest executive supervisor Martin Österdahl described Liverpool as the ideal place to host the 67th Eurovision Song Contest because this city is synonymous with music, and the venue Liverpool Arena meets all the requirements to stage a global event of this scale.
“We have been very impressed with the passion the city has shown in embracing the Contest and their inclusive ideas for placing last year’s winners, Ukraine, front and center when thousands of fans visit next May,” said Österdahl in a statement.
Liverpool defeated Glasgow in the final round of the competition, but the shortlist of potential host cities also included Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, and Sheffield. This will mark the first Eurovision Song Contest to be held in the UK in 25 years, when the 43rd Eurovision Song Contest was hosted in Birmingham in 1998.

]]>Eurovision Song Contest organizers said that all 41 artists will perform live and in-person at this year’s event. The contestants were previously asked to submit a “live-on-tape” performance in case they couldn’t travel or take part in the competition due to the pandemic.
When speaking to BBC’s Newscast Eurovision’s executive supervisor Martin Österdahl said that the travel to Rotterdam was “necessary” and “This isn’t a holiday trip, this is actually a job that needs to be done.”

But he says entrants won’t be able to hug and kiss each other this year.

Delegations from each country will be capped to 20 people, which is down from an average of 38, and media and commentators will broadcast from ventilated commentary booths to adhere to safety precautions.
It’s yet to be determined if a live audience will be present, but organizers hope for “the most normal Eurovision song contest that we can”.

“Will Ferrell here on the set of my new movie Eurovision. We want to make a very special announcement about a brand new cast member, and it just happens to be her birthday. I made her this wonderful cake from scratch,” said Ferrell in the video.
Eurovision will tell the story of an Icelandic musical duo Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir, who are trying to make their country proud by taking part in the biggest song competition in the world. The cast also includes Rachel McAdams, Dan Stevens, and Pierce Brosnan.
This won’t be Lovato’s first time working alongside Ferrell. She previously made a brief cameo in Zoolander 2. We still don’t know much about her character in Eurovision, but something tells us the role will involve some singing.

This announcement took the whole world by storm since a star of her magnitude never performed at the Eurovision before. It’s been reported that her set will cost an estimated $1 million, and it will apparently be financed by Canadian billionaire Sylvan Adams.
“I’m excited and proud to host Madonna in. I believe her performance, accompanied by dozens of professional backup dancers, will make a significant contribution to the success of the event and to the strengthening of Israel’s positive branding in the world,” said Adams while chatting with “The Jerusalem Post”.
This year’s Eurovision Song Contest will consist of two semi-finals taking place on May 14 and 16, and final show on May 18. It will take place at Expo Tel Aviv, with 41 countries taking part.

]]>Gall was born in Paris to the lyricist Robert Gall, and singer Cecile Berthier. Her professional music career began at the young age of 16 with her first single “Ne sois pas si bête”. After winning the Eurovision song contest in ’65 she gained worldwide recognition and toured around the world.
In 1973, Gall met singer and composer Michel Berger. Three years later, the two got married and had two girls. Their musical collaboration reached it’s peak when Gall sang “Ella, elle l’a”, a song written by Berger about the jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald.
