“Dance the Night” is a product of Lipa’s collaboration with Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, who wrote the music for Barbie, and Norwegian singer and songwriter Caroline Ailin. It comes with a Barbie-inspired music video that sees the singer going through various pink-heavy studio sets.

Barbie is currently scheduled to be released on July 21, 2023. It is directed and co-written by Greta Gerwig while starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, respectively. The rest of the star-studded cast includes Simu Liu, Michael Cera, Will Ferrell, and John Cena.

Dua Lipa will make an appearance in the Barbie movie as well, starring as Mermaid Barbie. This will be her acting debut.

Lipa is also believed to be wrapping up her third studio album, which should come out at some point in 2023. The singer didn’t share much detail on the album so far but shared that it will be a “really personal” release. Her most recent studio effort was 2020’s Future Nostalgia.

The British pop star recently confirmed that the remix edition of the album, titled Club Future Nostalgia the Remix, is coming out on August 21st. Lipa collaborated with American DJ The Blessed Madonna on the project, which is set to feature some big names including Missy Elliott, Madonna, Mark Ronson, and Gwen Stefani.

The first single from the album will be Missy Elliott and Madonna’s remix of “Levitating” which is set to drop on August 14th.

Dua Lipa began working on Future Nostalgia in 2018 and ended up recording around 60 songs before finalizing the album early this year. Lipa released the album on March 27th, meeting with widespread critical acclaim due to the project’s “cohesion” and “production.”

The album was also a commercial hit, topping the charts in the UK  and 12 other countries while reaching No.4 on US Billboard 200.

Lipa is set to embark on a world-wide Future Nostalgia Tour in early 2021, with the first show being scheduled in Newcastle upon Tyne on January 3rd.

“I was writ­ing so much on the road for the first one,” Lipa explained to The Face when asked it took her so long to finalize work on her next album. “I got thrown into this crazy pro­mo sched­ule, and then I end­ed up tour­ing for three years.”

The success of her first album is made doubly impressive when you remember how much harder it is for new artists to break out nowadays. “I remem­ber when Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed a Girl’ came out,” Lipa contrasted her own rise to fame with that of the veteran pop-queen. “It was like, where did this per­son even come from? All of a sud­den, it was just a mas­sive smash all over the world and every­body knew who Katy Per­ry was.”

She went on to add: “Things were so dif­fer­ent back then, you just had to have one big song, and peo­ple would play it on the radio, and that’s it. Where­as now, you real­ly have to nur­ture every lit­tle part of it.”

We still don’t have a definite release date or the album’s title, but since it’s Lipa, we are willing to hang on for a while longer!

The “New Rules” singer recently spoke with Rolling Stone about her plans for 2019 and told the magazine that “working really hard” to put out a new album is at the top on her list of priorities.

“Working really hard to get my new album out,” Lipa said when asked which will be her “new rules” for this year. “Those are the only rules that I’m gonna be living by. I’m just going to be in the studio making sure that I come back with some fun stuff for everyone.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Dua Lipa discussed her “musical mood swings” and talked about the way this influences her second album.

“That carries on in the second album,” she added. “It’s me trying to cover all the ground, all of my feelings. Some days are happy, and all you want to do is write a song about that. And other days…you know. Things don’t go how you want them do – but it’s such great inspiration for music. So there’s always that silver lining. I guess I’m quite good at hitting all the low notes – I’m still figuring out how to reach the higher ones.”

Besides working on her second studio album, Dua Lipa is also involved in several other projects these past few months. One of the most notable ones was the soundtrack for upcoming sci-fi blockbuster Alita: Battle Angel, for which she contributed a track titled “Swan Song.” You can check out the teaser below.
