Super Bowl wouldn’t be the same without its halftime show, and this year’s performance was one for the books. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar were in charge of headlining the show this year. They did a great job celebrating old-school hip-hop with their unforgettable performance that gave us some truly epic moments.

Dr. Dre

This year’s halftime show as a whole was a celebration of Dr. Dre and his impact on hip-hop in the past three decades. In addition to being featured as one of the performers, Dr. Dre wrote and produced many of the songs performed by other artists during the halftime show.

Mary J. Blidge

Mary J. Blige didn’t have a chance to fully unleash her power at the Super Bowl because the show featured additional four headliners, but her performance was still one of the night’s highlights. She rocked our world with amazing renditions of “Family Affair” and “No More Drama” and kept us asking for more.

Eminem

Eminem makes a spectacle every time he hits the stage, and his Super Bowl performance was no different. The rapper’s powerful rendition of his smash hit “Lose Yourself” was the talk of the night, especially after he took the knee at the end of his performance.

Super Bowl LVI is months away, but tensions are already running high after we learned who’s going to be performing at the halftime show. The upcoming musical performance will be a true hip-hop celebration, with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige serving as headliners.

To bring this epic performance to life, NFL joined forces with Roc Nation and PepsiCo, and their senior VP of media, sports, and entertainment said they wanted to blow the roof off the concept of collaboration with this year’s performance.

“Along with the NFL and Roc Nation, we continue to try and push the limits on what fans can expect during the most exciting 12 minutes in music; this year’s superstar line-up is sure to deliver a mind-blowing performance,” said Harter in an official statement.

The five performers have won 43 Grammys between them, and their choice isn’t accidental. Super Bowl LVI will bring back NFL’s biggest night to the Los Angeles area for the first time in almost three decades. Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are two of the faces of the West Coast hip-hop revolution, while Lamar is one of the biggest hip-hop pioneers of his generation and hails from Compton.

Super Bowl LVI is set to take place on February 13th, 2022 at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
