]]>Chance was initially scheduled to start the tour in September in support of his debut album The Big Day. However, he only did several shows before postponing the majority of the dates to 2020 in order to spend time with his newborn daughter.
Now, less than a month before the first dates, Chance made a decision to back out of the tour completely. He shared the news on social media.
“Hey guys I’ve decided to cancel the Big Tour,” Chance wrote on Instagram. “I know it sucks and its been a lot of back and forth with reschedules and rerouting, but it’s for the best. I’m gonna take this time to be with family, make some new music and develop my best show to date.”
While Chance the Rapper cites his willingness to spend more time with his family as the reason for the tour cancellation, the reports from the music industry say that there is more to this. According to several media outlets, including Chicago Tribute, the tour simply didn’t sell well. Chance tried to buy more time by postponing some dates, but that simply didn’t do the trick.
Chance released The Big Day back in July. The record reached No.2 on Billboard 200 charts while receiving mixed reviews from the critics.
