]]>Lamar came into this year’s ceremony with four nods and managed to collect all the awards he was nominated for. He defeated tough competition, including 21 Savage, Burna Boy, Drake, GloRilla, J. Cole, and Lil Uzi Vert to be named hip-hop artist of the year.
He was also named the best live performer and lyricist of the year, in addition to winning the trophy for video director of the year alongside Dave Free.
It was also a big night for Drake and 21 Savage, who picked up two awards by each other’s side, including album of the year with Her Loss. The list of contenders in this category also included Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape, Megan Thee Stallion’s Traumazine, and DJ Khaled’s God Did.
The 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards were broadcast on BET on October 10, a week after being taped, with Fat Joe serving as this year’s host.

]]>The list of nominees for album of the year included a total of seven entries, such as Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers by Kendrick Lamar and Her Loss by Drake and 21 Savage. BET voters couldn’t settle on a single winner and decided to honor two amazing albums – Beyoncé’s Renaissance and SZA’s SOS.
The two R&B stars topped the list of winners and both took two more awards home. SZA won trophies for best female R&B/pop artist and video of the year with “Kill Bill”. As for Beyoncé, she won BET Her Award and Viewer’s Choice Award with “Break My Soul”.
Drake came into the ceremony as the most nominated artist with seven nods, but he only took two trophies home – best group alongside 21 Savage and best collaboration for “Wait for U” ft. Future and Tems. It was also a big night for Busta Rhymes, who was honored with a lifetime achievement award during the ceremony.
The 2023 BET Awards took place on June 25 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.

The list of major nominees this year also includes GloRilla with six nods, followed by 21 Savage and Lizzo with five each. The 23rd BET Awards will return to celebrate Black excellence across music, TV, film, and sports on June 25, and the host of the venue is yet to be announced.

]]>Silk Sonic managed to beat tough competition to win the album of the year award with An Evening with Silk Sonic. The list of contenders in this category also included Call Me If You Get Lost by Tyler, the Creator, Certified Lover Boy by Drake, Donda by Kanye West, Planet Her by Doja Cat, Heaux Tales, Mo’ Tales: The Deluxe by Jazmine Sullivan, and Back of My Mind by H.E.R.
Silk Sonic’s song “Smokin’ out the Window” tied for the video of the year with “Family Ties” by Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar. Anderson .Paak won an individual award for directing this video, and also won the trophy for the best group with Silk Sonic.
Lamar was named the best male hip hop artist, while Megan Thee Stallion won the award for the best female hip hop artist Jazmine Sullivan and The Weeknd picked up trophies for the best female and male R&B/pop artist, respectively.
The 2022 BET Awards returned to the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on June 26, with Taraji P. Henson hosting the festivities.

]]>Silk Sonic managed to beat tough competition to win the album of the year award with An Evening with Silk Sonic. The list of contenders in this category also included Call Me If You Get Lost by Tyler, the Creator, Certified Lover Boy by Drake, Donda by Kanye West, Planet Her by Doja Cat, Heaux Tales, Mo’ Tales: The Deluxe by Jazmine Sullivan, and Back of My Mind by H.E.R.
Silk Sonic’s song “Smokin’ out the Window” tied for the video of the year with “Family Ties” by Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar. Anderson .Paak won an individual award for directing this video, and also won the trophy for the best group with Silk Sonic.
Lamar was named the best male hip hop artist, while Megan Thee Stallion won the award for the best female hip hop artist Jazmine Sullivan and The Weeknd picked up trophies for the best female and male R&B/pop artist, respectively.
The 2022 BET Awards returned to the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on June 26, with Taraji P. Henson hosting the festivities.
