]]>As part of the promotion tour, the band recently made a trip to BBC’s Maida Vale Studios, where they performed a live set for Radio 1.
Besides playing their hit “Pompeii” and latest single “Joy,” the London group also decided to treat the Radio 1 listeners with a special cover mash-up of Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy.”
Bastille incorporated several other songs into the cover, including Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” Dick Dale’s “Miserlou,” and Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood.”

Bastille have an eventful summer ahead, as they are set to perform on several festivals across Europe, including UK’s Glastonbury Festival and Norway’s Malakoff Rock Festival.
In the fall, the group will embark on a massive Doom Days tour, which will see them playing all across North America. Following the US and Canada trip, the band will head back to the United Kingdom before performing a series of shows in Australia.

]]>The track shares a name with the band’s upcoming album. The lyrics criticize our overuse of technology and get pretty dark and hopeless. They are also pretty self-deprecating.

“We wanted to really cement what is that you might be trying to escape,” Smith told NME. “So if the album is about a night out and it’s about escapism, I think we got to the end of the process and felt like it was really important to identify quite specifically what these modern anxieties that we all face are. Some of which feel really serious and oppressive and some of which are kind of ridiculous and mundane.”
He added: “It just felt really important coming off the back of the last album that we’d done – addressing escapism and addressing hedonism as a tool to avoid the things in the world and in the news and in your life, like your own personal daily worries. It just felt like we needed to be quite real with it.
“So I wanted to write this rolling script of these worries and take the p**s out of it and poke fun at ourselves. I’m one of the worst people for being glued to my phone. Anyone that spends time with me will know that and everyone is constantly ripping me for it, which is completely fair enough cos it’s a bit awful. So I wanted to address that.”
Doom Days will be released on June 14 this year.

]]>The upcoming album explores the idea of the “apocalyptic house party”. It will also experiment with gospel choirs and isn’t afraid to get dark and personal.
Frontman Dan Smith has spoken about the new single and has confirmed that it will come at the end of the album. It’s about waking up after a wild night and feeling your worries come rushing back.
“Joy is the moment at the end, almost that moment of redemption when you wake up on the kitchen floor and all of the anxieties come flooding in,” Smith told NME. “Something as simple as a call or a message from somebody can bring you back at that moment and rip the p**s out of you, make you feel ridiculous for the state you were in.”
Keyboardist Kyle Simmons added: “It’s the song that’s most obviously influenced by our re-orchestrated tour. The gospel singers are over the entire track. It’s crazy and to have it as the second most important on the track, that’s something we wouldn’t have done before,” explained keyboardist Kyle Simmons.”
He added: “It’s also a relatively happy song, the first in all the albums which is vaguely positive!”
Bastille will be hitting multiple festivals this summer.
