]]>Morissette is currently promoting her EP Last Christmas, which came out in early November. Besides the title track, the release also saw Canadian singer/songwriter cover Harry Simeone Chorale’s “The Little Drummer Boy”, traditional Christmas carol “What Child Is This?”, and John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)”.
Wham! originally released “Last Christmas” as a single in 1984. The track, written by George Michael, was a massive hit and remains one of the most popular Christmas songs ever. It was previously covered by a number of high-profile music acts, including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and the Backstreet Boys.
Alanis Morissette’s most recent full album was 2022’s The Storm Before the Calm. The record saw Morissette move away from her recognizable style and venture into meditation and ambient music. It received generally positive reviews from the critics.
Morissette is currently preparing to hit the road in 2024 for The Triple Moon Tour. The trip will see the singer play 20 shows between June and August, with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Morgan Wade joining her as special guests.

]]>Morissette will spend June and July touring across North America, and she’s set to kick off her tour with a concert at Sunlight Supply Amphitheater in Portland on June 2nd. Liz Phair and Garbage will join her on the road, and the tour is expected to wrap up on July 25th in Nashville.
This anniversary tour isn’t the only exciting project that Alanis Morissette has in store. She’s currently working on her next album titled Such Pretty Forks in the Road, and she teased its release with a brand-new single “Reasons I Drink.”
The Canadian singer also has a lot in store before this album even comes out. The Jagged Little Pill musical is debuting on Broadway on December 5th, and she’s set to be honored with Icon Award at Billboard Women in Music Awards later this month.

Brandi Carlile will receive the Trailblazer Award, for using her platform to speak out for underprivileged groups in society. They’ll be joined by Roc Nation chief operating officer Desiree Perez, who’ll collect the Executive of the Year Award.
These four trailblazing women may be honored for different reasons, but they all have at least one thing in common, according to Billboard editorial director Hannah Karp. “Billboard’s Women in Music is an annual opportunity for us to celebrate undeniably influential women from across the industry. This year, with honorees like Alanis Morisette, Brandi Carlile, Desiree Perez, and Nicki Minaj, we are excited to highlight a diverse group of women pushing limits and breaking boundaries,” Karp said in a statement.
This year’s Billboard “Women in Music” event will stream live from the Hollywood Palladium on December 12th, with Hayley Kiyoko serving as the host.

]]>Olivia Wilde made her directorial debut on a $6 million budget, and getting the rights to chart-topping party jams was a mission impossible. That didn’t hurt her prospects one bit, since the limited budget allowed her to dig deep and discover amazing tracks by alternative artists, including Kelsey Lu, Lizzo and Lykke Li.
Booksmart is filled with girl power anthems that perfectly suit its general spirit, but its standout song comes from an unexpected place. This teen comedy features a karaoke scene, which is a major turning point for one of the lead characters, and it wouldn’t work without Alanis Morissette classic “You Oughta Know”.
Wilde originally filmed the scene using the karaoke version of the song, but something just wasn’t working. She feared it would be expensive to get the rights, and that’s when she decided to pen a heartfelt letter, asking Morissette for permission to use her song.
“I just said how much she had meant to me in my youth and when I was in high school – ‘Jagged Little Pill’ in particular. Her strength as a woman and an artist and her singularity had really inspired me,” said Wilde for Huffington Post.
