Addison will be released on June 6, 2025, through Columbia Records, and it marks the follow-up to the singer’s debut EP AR from 2023. She teased its release with the lead single “Diet Pepsi”, her first song to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart, which was later followed by “Aquamarine”, “High Fashion”, and “Headphones On”.

Rae shared the album cover on social media and described Addison as “a true collection of [her] proudest work yet”, adding it was born out of a deep desperation and desire to understand herself better.

Rae, who rose to prominence with her viral TikTok dances, discussed her transition to music in a recent interview with Elle and explained why this shift felt like a no-brainer.

“Growing up as a dancer was such a natural transition into that sound. I was interested in how that music made you feel, and how it made your body move. I think music is mind control – it opens up this portal of energy,” she told Elle.

The music video for “Aquamarine” reunites Rae with the director Sean Price Williams and creative director Mel Ottenberg, and it’s as ethereal as it gets. After making her debut with the single “Obsessed” in 2021, Rae was determined to share her first album with the world as soon as possible, but her plans quickly fell apart. Following the leak of the music she recorded for her “lost album”, Rae decided to scrap several leaked songs and start anew.

Rae eventually decided to release these songs through official channels as a part of her first EP AR.  This was her way of giving “a little sign-off” to her first chapter as a musician before moving on to the next one.

“A few of you may have heard these songs after they were unfortunately leaked last year.. but if you loved them, now you can listen to them on all streaming platforms!!! Ahhh!! If you haven’t heard them, I hope you take a listen and they make you dance!!” she wrote on Instagram.

AR hit the shelves on August 18, and the standard edition features a total of four tracks: “I Got It Bad”, “Nothing On (But the Radio)”, “It Could’ve Been U”’, and “2 Die 4” featuring Charli XCX.

Rae dropped her debut single “Obsessed”, a self-love anthem. “OBSESSED out NOW on all platforms!!!!! I’m so emotional right now. this song makes me feel so many things!!! I love music. that’s all,” she wrote on Instagram.

The TikTok star rose to fame via social media but she’s been delving into other avenues including acting. She’s set to appear in the She’s All That remake, which will probably debut on Netflix later this year.

Right now she seems to be focusing on music. “I’m obsessed with me as much as you / Say you’d die for me I’d die for me too,” she sings on her debut track. “And if I lost you, I’d still have me, I can’t lose / When you say that you’re obsessed with me, me too.”

Rae told Vogue that she’s been involved every step of the way. “From the beginning, I wanted to make sure that I was writing my own music. I remember jotting down lyrics when I was little and trying to figure out how to make them a song, [now] I’m learning every detail and from amazing songwriters.”
