Jennifer’s Body became quite a cult classic in recent years, and Madison Beer seems to be a huge fan. She dropped a music video for her latest single “Make You Mine”, which sees her paying homage to the beloved comedy-horror starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried.

The “Make You Mine” visual was co-directed by Beer and Aerin Moreno, and it features countless references to Jennifer’s Body. Beer looks exactly like Megan Fox’s character and plays a killer cheerleader who joins forces with her BFF to murder a guy who has a crush on her.

Beer described this music video as a dream come true, and thanked everyone who made it possible on social media. She’s been a fan of Jennifer’s Body for quite some time and even previously dressed as the main character for Halloween.

“Make You Mine” was released back in February, and the singer revealed it’s her favorite song she’s ever made to date.

“It’s just so fun, such a feel-good song. It’s se-y, it’s infectious. I haven’t played it for anyone that hasn’t just like [started] dancing and felt immediately hotter after listening to it, and that’s always how I want to make people feel,” she told Billboard in February.

Sabrina Carpenter has been trying to break into the top ten for quite some time, and her chart domination is finally upon us. She made quite a splash with her latest catchy bop “Espresso”, which became her first top ten single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 7.

“Espresso” hit the shelves on April 12, just in time for Carpenter’s performance at Coachella, and drew 19.8 million streams, 5.1 million in airplay audience, and sold 4,000 in its first week. It debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the week’s highest-charting new song, in addition to being Carpenter’s first single to enter the top ten.

In addition to finding success in the US, “Espresso” also entered the top ten in Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom, becoming her highest-charting song in these territories.

Carpenter recently revealed that the lyrics for “Espresso” came together pretty quickly when she was in France, and she could feel how fun the song would be from the very start.

“I think for me, there was something really exciting about the fact that there was so much personality throughout the entire song because those are the ones that are really, really fun to sing live with a crowd,” Carpenter told Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe.

After a lot of anticipation, Taylor Swift finally dropped her album The Tortured Poets Department this Friday, but this wasn’t the only new release that caught our eye. Check out our list of the best new songs of the week to discover new music by Pearl Jam, Hozier, and Kings of Lion.

No album this week created more commotion than Taylor Swift’s Tortured Poets and its companion piece The Anthology. She’s given us 16 new songs on the standard edition and 31 in total, but “So Long, London” is definitely her strongest new release.

This Friday was pretty slow for new releases because most artists wanted to avoid competing with Swift. That didn’t stop Pearl Jam from sharing their long-awaited album Dark Matter, which produced several amazing songs, including “Wreckage”.

The lack of major releases helped our favorite indie and international artists shine, and make it to our list of the best new songs of the week. Hozier’s “Why Would You Be Loved” is definitely worth listening to on repeat, and so are the latest singles by Rachel Chinouriri, Debbii Dawson, Kings of Leon, Kate Nash, and more.

Taylor Swift – “So Long, London”

Hozier – “Why Would You Be Loved”

Pearl Jam – “Wreckage”

Debbii Dawson – “Happy World”

Rachel Chinouriri – “It Is What It Is”

Sia – “Fame Won’t Love You” (feat. Paris Hilton)

Kings Of Leon – “Nothing To Do”

Cigarettes After S-x – “Dark Vacay”

Kate Nash – “Space Odyssey 2001”

Kygo, Zak Abel – “For Life” ft. Nile Rodgers

We live in the era of Taylor Swift’s absolute domination, and The Tortured Poets Department marks her fourth album in just 18 months. The singer took us on another epic lyrical journey and explored different stages of heartbreak on this vulnerable and vindictive album, which also happens to be one of her most uneven releases in recent years.

Swift has been through a lot since Midnight hit the shelves in 2022—and we’re not just talking about her record-breaking The Eras Tour. The singer’s romantic relationship often served as the main source of inspiration for her music, and Tortured Poets continues this trend, but not in a way you’d think.

This is Swift’s first album of new material since her six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn came to an end, and many expected their breakup would be the main subject of this album. Instead of simply throwing Alwyn under the bus, Swift decided to explore many stages of heartbreak on this record, reserving her vindictive quips for a short-term fling with Matty Healy and giving her some of her edgiest lyrics since Reputation.

Tortured Poets is at its strongest when Swift is ready to bare her emotions and get vulnerable, instead of resorting to pettiness. “So Long, London” is the case in point, and it’s one of her most emotional and raw breakup anthems since her magnum opus “All Too Well”.

Her vulnerability doesn’t shine as strongly on the rest of the album, but Reputation fans will appreciate the vengeful tone and audacious nature of some of the album’s buzziest songs, such as “But Daddy I Love Him”, “The Tortured Poets Department”, and especially “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived”. She also found two pretty great collaborators in Post Malone (“Fortnight”) and Florence Welch (“Florida!!!”).

Swift’s storytelling skills remain as strong as ever on The Tortured Poets Department, but this collection of songs doesn’t feel as cohesive as some of her recent albums. Its synth-pop sound feels repetitive at times, making us wonder if Swift’s collaboration with producer Jack Antonoff has run its course – especially when we compare it with Aaron Dessner’s work on the album’s second volume The Anthology.

The Tortured Poets Department is a solid synth-pop record that bridges the gap between Swift’s several eras. It gives us a moment of boldness, audacity, and vulnerability that continue the singer’s legacy as one of the best storytellers of her generation, but it also feels like a pit stop until the next great thing.

Sia’s upcoming album Reasonable Woman is bringing many amazing collaborations our way, and her latest is the most unexpected one yet. She joined forces with none other than Paris Hilton for her latest single “Fame Won’t Love You”.

Sia and Paris Hilton previously joined forces for the cover of “Stars Are Blind” during Miley Cyrus’ New Year’s Eve special, and they’ve been plotting their next collaboration ever since. Hilton even revealed that Sia would be producing her second studio album, but it turns out this won’t be their first creative partnership.

Hilton just hopped on Sia’s latest single “Fame Won’t Love You”, the song that captures the way that motherhood changed both of their relationships with fame. The collaboration came pretty naturally for Hilton, who felt no tension being in the studio with Sia.

“She brought something out of me that nobody ever has. Because I never ever really felt comfortable with people in the studio… With her, I just feel so comfortable so I really sang in ways that I never knew were possible,” Hilton told Billboard.

“Fame Won’t Love You” was released as the fifth single from Sia’s upcoming album Reasonable Woman, set to hit the shelves on May 3.

The first Coachella weekend featured many surprise appearances, and Lana Del Rey welcomed one of the festival’s most exciting special guests on stage. Billie Eilish joined her for an emotional cover of her own breakout hit “Ocean Eyes”.

Del Rey is one of the artists headlining Coachella this year, and she had a perfect partner in crime during the festival’s opening night. Eilish joined her for a magical performance of her hit song “Ocean Eyes”, which came out in 2016 as a part of her debut EP Don’t Smile at Me.

Del Rey thanked Eilish for hitting the Coachella stage by her side, and described her as the voice of a generation, adding that “Ocean Eyes” is her favorite song by Eilish.

Eilish has been very vocal about her admiration for Del Rey long before joining her at Coachella. She interviewed her for Interview Magazine just last year and opened up about Del Rey’s impact on her music.

“You really paved the way for everyone. People have been trying to look and sound like you since you first started. I talk about this with Finneas [O’Connell]. You changed the way the music industry hears and sees music, and you changed the way people sing,” Eilish told Del Rey.

Summer is still a few months away, but Sabrina Carpenter is ready to take a vacation! The music video for her new single “Espresso” just hit the shelves, and it sees her enjoying a day at the beach and embracing summer vibes.

After stirring quite a commotion with her music video for “Feather”, Carpenter decided to take things breezy with “Espresso”. Her latest visual is the very definition of summer fun, and it sees her having a beachside vacation while rocking several pin-up style outfits.

Carpenter described “Espresso” as a song about “seeing femininity as your superpower”, and said she had a very clear vision for its music video from the get-go.

“Since the day I heard the song, I saw a beach atmosphere – and more specifically this kind of old school [and] modern environment. [I wanted to capture] the playfulness that I like to use throughout all of my videos. I also just wanted a pool car, to be frank,” she told Vogue.

Carpenter dropped “Espresso” ahead of her performance at Coachella, and this marks her first solo release of the year. She spent the start of 2024 touring alongside Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour and joined forces with Girl in Red for the duet “You Need Me Now?”

April is shaping up to be a great month for new music, and this week has given us a long list of amazing new songs. Some of them made it to our list of the best songs of the week, starting with new tracks by Dua Lipa, Maggie Rogers, Girl in Red, and Tinashe.

Dua Lipa’s “Illusion” is definitely the week’s most talked-about new track, and it deserves all the attention coming its way. It’s the third single from her new album Radical Optimism, and it perfectly captures its nostalgic, Britpop-inspired sound.

This week also marked the release of Metro Boomin and Future’s second collaborative album We Still Don’t Trust You, and its title track made it to our list. Speaking of new albums, Maggie Rogers and Girl in Red made a comeback with their latest LPs this week and truly impressed us with their new sound.

It was a great week for female artists overall, and the songs that made the cut cover a wide range of different genres. In addition to Maggie Rogers and Girl in Red representing alternative pop-rock, R&B artists Chlöe, Tinashe, and Willow also made it to our list alongside the rising country star Tanner Adell.

Dua Lipa – “Illusion”

Linkin Park – “QWERTY”

Maggie Rogers – “The Kill”

Girl in Red – “I’m Back”

Future, Metro Boomin – “We Still Don’t Trust You”

WILLOW – “Big Feelings”

Suki Waterhouse – “My Fun”

Tinashe – “Nasty”

Tanner Adell – Whiskey Blues

Chlöe – “Boy Bye”
