]]> Back in late 2018, Hulu announced that they are developing a series documenting the rise of Staten Island rap group Wu-Tang Clan. Now, the streamer decided to reveal the first trailer for the show, titled Wu-Tang: An American Saga, while also announcing that the series is set for a September 4th premiere date.  

The first season of this bibliographical drama will consist of 10 episodes, with Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA serving as a writer alongside Alex Tse (Watchmen, Superfly). The series is inspired by RZA’s books The Wu-Tang Manual and Tao of Wu, and will cover the group’s rise to being one of the most influential American rap acts.

The full list of the cast is yet to be revealed, but so far we know that Ashton Sanders will take on the role of RZA while Siddiq Saunderson will play Ghostface Killah. Joey Bada$$ joins as Inspectah Deck while Dave East portrays Method Man.

Wu-Tang: An American Saga is set in 1990s New York City during the height of the crack cocaine epidemic and follows “the Clan’s formation, a vision of Bobby Diggs aka The RZA, who strives to unite a dozen young, black men that are torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories.
