With Christmas just around the corner, we’ve expected a pretty slow week for new music releases, but our favorite artists always have a way of surprising us. SZA and Kendrick Lamar have given us another great collaboration, making their way to our list of the best songs of the week along with Miley Cyrus, The Wombats, and J. Cole.

SZA has been teasing the deluxe version of SOS titled Lana for quite some time, and its rollout has been one wild ride. She kept pushing its release date time and time again, and eventually dropped it on December 20, giving us 15 new tracks that were worth the wait, including “30 For 30” ft. Kendrick Lamar.

This week also marked the official release of Miley Cyrus’ “Beautiful That Way” from Gia Coppola’s film The Last Showgirl. She recently received a Golden Globe nomination for writing this song alongside Andrew Wyatt and Lykke Li.

The rest of our week features several established artists, such as J. Cole, Winona Oak, and The Wombats, but it mostly spotlights independent and alternative music. Stick around to discover new songs by the likes of The Weather Station, d4vd, Nao, Tom Misch, and Anya Nami.

The final week of 2023 is finally upon us, and it brought several exciting new songs our way. New music releases tend to slow down once the year reaches its final stage, but that didn’t stop Peso Pluma, Winona Oak, Lost Frequencies, and Bastille from dropping new songs.

2023 has been a breakout year for Peso Pluma, and he’s ending it on a high note. He single-handedly popularized regional Mexican music, and his latest song “Rompe La Dompe” saw him joining forces with Junior H and Óscar Maydon.

The rest of our list for the week mostly consists of alternative artist who are still searching for their first big hit. During slow weeks for new music releases, we tend to shed light on rising stars who are still making a name for themselves but still deserve a spot on your playlist.

Winona Oak has been one of our favorites for quite some time, and she knocked us off our feet again with the soaring ballad “Fragile Thing”. English singer Rhodes, TikTok sensation Baby Storme, and the Afroswing artist Myles Smith also made it to our list this week, along with the DJ Lost Frequencies who joined forces with Bastille for “Head Down”

Peso Pluma ft. Junior H & Óscar Maydon: “Rompe La Dompe”

Lost Frequencies & Bastille: “Head Down”

We enjoy helping you navigate through all the new releases each week and discover some amazing new tracks along the way. Our latest list is a true treat for fans of alternative music and Latin beats and it includes new music by Björk, Rosalía, Karol G, and Kali Uchis.

This week has been pretty slow in terms of new releases because most of our favorite stars took a break to celebrate Thanksgiving with their loved ones. That didn’t stop our favorite artists outside of the United States from dropping new music and giving us some amazing new songs in the process.

This has been an amazing week for female collaborations, and two of the best songs from our list fall under that category.  Kali Uchis and Karol G knocked it out of the park with their new collaboration “Labios Mordidos”, while Björk and Rosalía seamlessly blended their unique artistic styles on their new duet “Oral”.

Speaking of great collaborations to make it to our list, Jacob Collier’s new song “Witness Me” is also worth listening to and features contributions from Shawn Mendes, Stormzy, and Kirk Franklin.

It’s also been a great week for alternative artists, with Winona Oak, The Japanese House, and Sam Fischer managing to beat tough competition and make it to our list of the best new songs of the week.

Kali Uchis & KAROL G: “Labios Mordidos”

Måneskin: “TRASTEVERE”

Björk ft. Rosalía: “Oral”

Zara Larsson: “Memory Lane”

James Arthur: “Homecoming”

Jacob Collier: “Witness Me (feat. Shawn Mendes, Stormzy & Kirk Franklin)”

Paloma Faith: “Bad Woman”

Winona Oak: “Fire Escapes”

The Japanese House: “Super Trouper”

Sam Fischer: “Hard to Love”
