The Ultra Music Festival will have a new home for its 2020 edition.

The organizers of this legendary electronic music festival announced that they have ended their relationship with the city of Miami after 21 years and are currently “finalizing a new South Florida location.”

Founded in 1999 by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes, the Ultra Music Festival changed several locations in the past 21 years but never left Miami.

Since its inception, the event became one of the most popular music events in the world, and have been regularly attracting around 165,000 EDM fans each of the past six years.

The troubles for the event emerged when the City of Miami decided not to renew the festival’s contract for the Bayfront Park location following the 2018 edition, due to complaints from downtown residents.

The festival was then relocated to Virginia Key island for 2019, which turned out to be a bad move since the event was plagued by various organizational issues.

Following the complaints of the festival-goers, the organizers decided to take the necessary steps in order to prevent this from happening again.

“Throughout the years of Ultra’s existence, our top priority has always been to offer you the best possible festival experience,” said the Ultra Music Festival in a letter posted on Twitter.

“After listening to feedback from many of you (including 20,000 fans who took our post-event survey), it is clear that the festival experience on Virginia Key was simply not good enough. This is the Ultra Music Festival, after all, and our attendees expect us to deliver on our commitment to excellence. Being committed to excellence not only means constantly striving to become better, it also means being willing to change things that are not working.”
