]]>“What Was I Made For?” was released as the fourth single from Barbie: The Album and this isn’t even the first time it made history. Following its release in July, this album became the first soundtrack with three songs simultaneously entering the top five on the UK Singles Chart, including Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”, Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night”, and “Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice ft. Aqua.
The song’s steady climb to no. 1 finally came to a close this week, and “What Was I Made For?” hit No. 1 to become Eilish’s second chart-topping hit in this country. Coincidently, she previously hit No. 1 with a song from another soundtrack—the last James Bond film No Time To Die.
“What Was I Made For?” is a part of a historic week on the UK Singles Chart, which saw songs by solo female artists hitting the top six for the first time in history. The lineup also includes Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer”, Peggy Gou’s “(It Goes Like) Nanana”, and Rodrigo’s “Bad Idea Right”.

]]>Loreen was just one step away from reaching the top, but she eventually lost a tight race for No. 1 to Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s “Miracle”. Debuting at No. 2 is still pretty impressive and this is her new career high, beating the No. 3 debut by her previous Eurovision winner “Euphoria”.
Finish singer Käärijä, who came in second at the Eurovision with his viral hit “Cha Cha Cha”, also made an impact on the chart, hitting the No. 6 spot. Despite her disappointing Eurovision ranking, Mae Muller’s “I Wrote A Song” surged to No. 9, and she was followed by the Norwegian singer Alessandra with “Queen of Kings” at No. 10.
The rest of the UK Singles Chart for this week mostly consists of beloved British acts, including Ed Sheeran’s “Eyes Closed” and Lewis Capaldi’s “Wish You the Best”, but it also features TikTok sensation David Kushner at No. 3 with “Daylight”.
