The uplifting track channels hope for some brighter times after a challenging year. It looks to inspire people to get into party mode and “paint the town” on Saturday.

By the sound of it, the song looks poised to be a club banger when nightlife finds its footing again. Hear it below.

“Saturday” follows two previously released singles from Scaled and Icy, “Choker” and “Shy Away.” The album is set for release on May 21st. It is the group’s sixth studio effort and follows 2018’s critically acclaimed Trench.

The new album was written and produced in major part by frontman and vocalist Tyler Joseph. Joseph worked on the record in his home studio during the coronavirus pandemic while drummer Josh Dun made his contributions remotely.

In a recent interview, Joseph said that the record was purposely made “shiny, and colorful, and seemingly upbeat,”  but added that “as you dive into lyrics, a lot of times it’s asking some pretty heavy questions and addressing some pretty heavy things.”

The list of personnel on Scaled and Icy also includes frequent 50 Cent and Eminem collaborator Mike Elizondo, singer and songwriter Paul Meany, and producer Greg Kurstin.

The group’s frontman Tyler Joseph recently went on social media to share his excitement about one of the tracks he wrote.

“Always writing, but this one feels like it should just come out now,” Joseph wrote on Twitter.

Joseph then followed this up with another tweet, in which he explained that he’ll take a few days to polish it before releasing it.

“Give me a few days to finish it up,” he added. “Good rule of thumb is to never give yourself a deadline so tweeting about it kind of just added pressure, it’s not done yet.”

He also said that the portion of “whatever money this song makes” will go to a non-profit Crew Nation, which aims to help the people in the music industry affected by the ongoing health crisis.

Twenty One Pilots released their most recent album, Trench, back in 2018. The record, which debuted at No.2 on US Billboard 200 and UK Charts, was received with critical acclaim and earned praise for songwriting and production.

This new version, fully titled “Chlorine (19.4326° N, 99.1332° W),” is stripped down compared to the original and features vocalist Tyler Joseph being accompanied by just a piano with the addition of an underlying beat. The track is part of what band refers to as “Løcatiøn Sessiøns.”

As Kerrang! points out, Twenty One Pilots had a private acoustic gig in Mexico City in May, when they performed Smithereens, Legend, Cut My Lip, My Blood, Holding On To You, and Chlorine. Since “(19.4326° N, 99.1332° W)” part of the Chlorine’s unplugged title matches the coordinates of Mexico City, there is a possibility that “Løcatiøn Sessiøns” will be a new EP containing the songs from the previously mentioned show. Still, since there are no official info about the project, we will have to wait and see whether this turns out to be true.

Twenty One Pilots have seven shows to play before their worldwide tour officially ends, with two of them coming on June 29th and June 30th in their native Columbus.

Twenty One Pilots also announced a massive Banditos Tour, which is set to kick off on October 16th in Nashville. The tour will see them playing across North America, Oceania, and Europe, with the last show being scheduled for March 17th, 2019 in Lisbon.

But, wait, this isn’t all. Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph decided to treat their fans with two brand new songs, “Jumpsuit” and “Nico and the Niners.”
