Fans of The Who in the United States might not get the opportunity to see the iconic hard rock band live on stage again. In a recent interview with USA Today, the group’s vocalist Roger Daltrey expressed doubt they will tour America again.

The Who last played in the US in 2022 as part of the Hits Back tour, which partially supported the band’s twelfth studio Who but also featured some of their biggest hits. When asked by USA Today if the band plans on touring America again in the future, Daltrey said that the chances of that happening are slim.

“Nothing at the moment. I don’t know if we’ll ever come back to tour America,” Daltrey shared.

Daltrey explained that the only tour The Who might do in America is the orchestrated performance of their rock opera Quadrophenia “to round out the catalog.” However, he noted that singing it live in a tour setting would be “one tall order,” considering he will turn 80 in 2024.

“I never say never, but at the moment it’s very doubtful,” he added.

The Who is currently scheduled to continue the Hits Back tour in the summer. They will play a series of concerts across Europe, including Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and the UK.

The Who really kept their fans waiting for their next studio album, and after learning about everything they’ve got in store for us – it was definitely worth it. The rock legends teased their upcoming record with a new single and announced they’re going to support it with a world tour.

The band’s lead guitarist Pete Townshend detailed their new album in a statement and said it will feature a total of 13 songs – ranging from dark ballads, heavy rock stuff, experimental electronica, sampled stuff and tunes reminiscent of their signature sound.

“This album is almost all new songs written last year, with just two exceptions. There is no theme, no concept, no story, just a set of songs that I (and my brother Simon) wrote to give Roger Daltrey some inspiration, challenges, and scope for his newly revived singing voice,” explained Townshend.

The band’s new album will simply be titled Who, and it’s scheduled to be released on November 22nd. Lead single “Ball and Chain” came out on Friday, but we’ll have to wait for a little bit longer to hear the rest of this highly-anticipated record.

Roger Daltrey claims The Who have made their “best album since Quadrophenia.”

When bands like The Who reunite, fans expect a handful of shows where they will hear old time classics. They may expect the odd new song, but nothing particularly groundbreaking. The Who peaked 50 years ago, so what could possibly be the point in bringing out a new album?

According to frontman Roger Daltrey, there is every reason to keep making music. He even claims that the album he has been working on with Pete Townsend is up there with the legendary Quadrophenia.

“When I first heard the songs I was very skeptical as I didn’t think I could do it,” Daltrey explained. “I thought Pete had written a really great solo album and I said to him, ‘Pete, what do you need to do this for? Release it as a solo album, it’s great.’ But he said he wanted it to be a Who album.

“So I took the songs away and I listened to them and listened to them some more, and I had some ideas. [Pete] let me have a bit of freedom with changing a few things, changing the tenses of songs and other little things. And he gave me complete melodic freedom. And I gotta tell you that after being very skeptical I’m now incredibly optimistic. I think we’ve made our best album since ‘Quadrophenia’.”

He concluded: “Pete hasn’t lost it, he’s still a fabulous songwriter and he’s still got that cutting edge, man.”

We are still awaiting the release date of this major new album from the mod legends.

Four decades ago, members of The Who started working on Lifehouse – the best rock opera that never was. This ambitious production never came to be, but the band will finally release it in a completely different form.

The band’s shelved project will get a graphic novel treatment. Frontman Pete Townshend described it as the most exciting creative development in his long career.

Lifehouse always had a strong and important visual story that was never even touched on. I am excited then, with huge anticipation, that at last Lifehouse can be realized visually, and as a story – part science fiction, part spiritual allegory,” said Townshend in a statement.

Illustrator James Harvey will work alongside The Who’s singer to transform his screenplay into a 150-page graphic novel, scheduled for release next year. Lifehouse has been in the making since the ‘70s and the band revisited the idea on a couple of occasions after that.

This project was originally described as a “fantasy set at a time when rock ’n’ roll didn’t exist”. Unfortunately, this rock opera proved to be beyond the band’s skill set and financial scope and they abandoned the project to focus their attention on Who’s Next album instead.

English rock band The Who will commence its North American Tour May 7th at the Van Andel Arena in Michigan and close it on October 23 in Alberta.

Announcing the tour dates on its official site, The Who will feature a local orchestra at every spot it plays throughout the US. Band member Roger Daltrey also told his fans that the Who will produce the high quality music they are used to despite the orchestra.

“Be aware, Who fans!” he said. “Just because it’s The Who with an orchestra, in no way will it compromise the way Pete and I deliver our music. This will be full throttle Who with horns and bells on.”

With Daltrey hitting 75 years and bandmate Pete Townshend being 73, the Symphonic Tour will likely be the band’s last. Daltrey had already confirmed to the Rolling Stone he might think of reiting after the tour.

“I’m just being realistic about going throughout the 75th year of my life,” he said. “I have to be realistic that this is the age I am and voices start to go after a while. I don’t want to be not as good as I was two years ago.”

The band also plans to release their first album since 2006 sometimes before the tour begins.

Roger Daltrey has released the details for his highly-anticipated memoir.

The mod icon first mentioned the idea of writing a memoir back in 2009. Almost ten years later, the memoir is finally on its way.

A post on The Who’s official Facebook page had revealed that the title of the memoir will be “Thanks A Lot Mr Kibblewhite: My Story.” The book will take readers through the star’s 50-year career with The Who and will offer a glimpse into the life of a rock ‘n’ roll star living in Britain back in the ’60s.

Daltrey previously said in a statement: “I’ve always resisted the urge to ‘do the memoir’ but now, finally, I feel I’ve enough perspective. When you’ve spent more than half a century at the epicenter of a band like The Who, perspective can be a problem. Everything happened in the moment. One minute, I’m on the factory floor in Shepherd’s Bush, the next, I’m headlining Woodstock.”

He added: “It’s taken three years to unpick the events of my life, to remember who did what when and why, to separate the myths from the reality, to unravel what really happened at the Holiday Inn on Keith Moon’s 21st birthday.”

“I hope the result is more than just another autobiography. I’ve been lucky enough to live in interesting times. I’ve witnessed society, music and culture change beyond recognition. That I’m still here to tell my tale when so many others around me didn’t make it is nothing short of a miracle.”

Thanks A Lot Mr Kibblewhite: My Story will be released on October 18th.
