Squire didn’t want to discuss further the reasons for the split, but he hinted that another clash with vocalist Ian Brown might be in question. Asked whether Brown is invited to the promotion of his new art exhibition “Disinformation,” Squire responded negatively but also added that the two agreed not to talk about their relationship with the press.

After more than 15 years of break, The Stone Roses reunited in their classic lineup – consisting of Brown, Squire, bassists Mani and drummer Reni – in 2011. The band announced a tour and possibility of recording new material.

In the following years, the group toured the world and had multiple festival appearances, filmed a documentary, and released a pair of new songs in “All for One” and “Beautiful Thing.”

Although never confirmed until now, the breakup of The Stone Roses was hinted during their show at Hampden Park in Glasgow on 24 June 2017. At one point during the gig, Brown told the audience: “Don’t be sad that it’s over, be happy that it happened,” raising speculation that this might be the end for the group. It turned out that ways, as the Glasgow show was their last.
