]]> Everyone’s favorite sitcom Friends turned 25 last week, and many people came up with creative ways to mark its anniversary. Meghan Trainor was one of them, and she celebrated the occasion by recording her own rendition of the beloved theme song “I’ll Be There For You”.

The original version of the iconic opening was performed by The Rembrandts, who co-wrote this catchy tune alongside showrunners Marta Kauffman and David Crane. They used The Beatles’ “I Feel Fine” and The Monkees’ “Pleasant Valley Sunday” as the main inspiration for the music.

Meghan Trainor was honored after being approached by the Warner Brothers to record a cover and immediately accepted their offer since she’s always been a die-hard Friends fan.

“I’ve seen every episode multiple times now. I can’t believe they even thought of me to sing this cover. It was a dream come true. I hope I make them proud. Because they’re the ones that wrote this beautiful song and they’re legends,” the singer told Rolling Stone.

The release of Trainor’s “I’ll Be There For You” cover coincided with the Empire State Building light show, which saw the NYC skyscraper illuminated in the colors of Friends logo – red, yellow and blue.
