The Last Dinner Party’s rise to stardom was a joy to watch, and they knocked it out of the park with their first album. Prelude to Ecstasy hit the shelves in early February and became the indie rock band’s first album to hit No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart.

Prelude to Ecstasy debuted at No. 1 with 32,800 chart units earned in its first week. This is quite an achievement for this all-girl indie band and marks the biggest opening week for a debut album by a band since 2015 when Years & Years earned 55,000 chart units with Communion.

Prelude to Ecstasy did exceptionally well on vinyl, with 14,000 copies sold during its debut week. This makes it the fastest-selling debut album by a group on vinyl this century.

Prelude to Ecstasy was released on February 2, and it was preceded by several hit singles, including “Nothing Matters”, “Sinner”, “My Lady of Mercy”, “On Your Side”, and “Caesar on a TV Screen”.

The Last Dinner Party was formed by Abigail Morris, Lizzie Mayland, Emily Roberts, Georgia Davies, and Aurora Nishevci in 2021. They’ve recently been announced as recipients of the Rising Star Award at this year’s Brit Awards, beating Caity Baser and Sekou.

After several slow weeks for the new music releases, we’re finally back on track! Our favorite artists kicked off 2024 with a bang, with everyone from Lewis Capaldi and Alice Merton to Green Day and The Last Dinner Party starting the new year by dropping amazing new tracks.

Despite giving us many amazing new songs, this week has been pretty slow in terms of new album releases. That didn’t stop Lewis Capaldi from dropping an extended edition of his sophomore album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, which features five brand-new tracks, including “Strangers”.

Several songs on our list serve as the intrude for some of the most highly-anticipated new albums hitting the shelves this winter. That happens to be the case with “One Eyed Bastard” from Green Day’s Saviors and “Caesar on a TV Screen” from The Last Dinner Party’s Prelude to Ecstasy.

As for the rest of our list this week, we made sure to include a perfect mix of different genres, so everyone can find a song that suits their taste. Country fans can discover new music by Gabby Barrett, hip-hop lovers will enjoy 24kGoldn’s “Good Intentions”, while those who prefer Latin sound can vibe to Luis R Conriquez and Peso Pluma.

Lewis Capaldi – “Strangers”

The Last Dinner Party – “Caesar on a TV Screen”

Green Day – “One Eyed B——“

Alice Merton – “Run Away Girl”

Gabby Barrett – “You’re My Texas”

24kGoldn – “Good Intentions”

Luis R Conriquez, Peso Pluma – “Pixelados”

UMI, V – “wherever u r (ft. V of BTS)”

Bring Me The Horizon – “Kool-Aid”

Goddard. x Cat Burns – “Wasted Youth”

The new year is finally upon us, and it’s a better time than ever to put some new music on your playlist. We’re bringing you five amazing rising stars that you should consider checking out because we’re expecting them to do great things in 2024.

Tyla

Tyla has given us one of the biggest viral hits of last year with “Water”, and we’re sure she has a few more bops up her sleeve. Her self-titled debut album will hit the shelves in March and she teased it with songs “On and On” and “Truth or Dare”.

Baby Keem

Baby Keem found huge success through his collaborations with Kendrick Lamar and even won a Grammy for their work on “Family Ties”. We’re expecting him to make an even bigger impact with his solo music following the release of his upcoming album Child With Wolves.

GloRilla

Most hip-hop fans are familiar with GloRilla, but she’s yet to reach mainstream popularity. She’s still plotting the release of her debut studio album, and we’re expecting her to really blow up in 2024.

The Last Dinner Party

The British indie band The Last Dinner Party are set as the recipients of the rising star awards at the BRIT Awards, and their debut album Prelude to Ecstasy will finally arrive next month.

Reneé Rapp

Reneé Rapp’s debut album Snow Angel came out this past summer, but it didn’t make quite an impact on the charts. We’re expecting her music to find a larger audience after she reintroduces herself to the world as Regina George in Mean Girls: The Musical.

2023 has been a groundbreaking year for The Last Dinner Party, and they’re ending it on a high note! The all-girl British indie band will be honored with the rising star award at the upcoming BRIT Awards, following in the footsteps of Adele, Jessie J, and Sam Smith.

Abigail Morris, Lizzie Mayland, Emily Roberts, Georgia Davies, and Aurora Nishevci of The Last Dinner Party were announced as the next winners of the Rising Star Award, and they thanked BRIT Award voters for honoring them with this major prize.

“We are so proud beyond measure to have won the BRITs Rising Star. It’s an honour to achieve something so iconic so early on in our career and we can only hope to keep making music that connects with all the incredible people who have listened to and supported us so far,” said the band in a statement.

The Last Dinner Party was formed in 2021, and they made quite a splash with several singles released throughout this year, including “Nothing Matters”, “Sinner”, “My Lady of Mercy”, and “On Your Side”. Their debut album Prelude to Ecstasy will be released on February 2, 2024 via Island Records.

The 2024 BRIT Awards will return to The O2 Arena in London on March 2, 2024, and the nominees are yet to be announced.

We can count on our favorite artists to surprise us with amazing new tracks every week, and they were certainly on top of their game in the past seven days. From The Beatles’ “final song” to new music by Olivia Rodrigo, Megan Thee Stallion, and Jungkook, we’re bringing you ten new tracks that rocked our world this week.

If we had to pick the most talked-about new track to hit the shelves this Friday, it would definitely be “Now and Then”, billed as The Beatles’ “final song”. Five decades in the making, this song utilized modern technology to reunite the members of the legendary band for one last time.

November 3 also marked the release of Jungkook’s long-awaited solo album Golden. It’s the most complete record any member of BTS released on their own, and it already produced several hit songs – and we’re expecting great things from its latest single “Standing Next to You”.

Megan Thee Stallion also created a lot of buzz with her comeback single “Cobra”, while Olivia Rodrigo created some hype for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes soundtrack with “Can’t Catch Me Now”. It was a great week for Gen-Z artists overall, with new music by Willow, Conan Gray, The Kid LAROI, and Laufey also making the cut.

Olivia Rodrigo – “Can’t Catch Me Now”

Megan Thee Stallion – “Cobra”

The Beatles – “Now And Then”

Kid Cudi – “At The Party ft. Pharrell & Travis Scott”

Willow – “Alone”
