Barack Obama just unveiled his annual list of top songs of the year, and it’s filled with dope tracks we know and love.

Obama took a moment to reflect on the most thought-provoking and inspiring songs, movies and books he loved in 2018 and highlighted talented authors, artists, and storytellers who impressed him in the last 12 months.

The list of his favorite songs featured a couple of obvious choices we should’ve seen coming, but he also used this opportunity to mention a few artists who deserved more recognition. Some of the already established performers who made the cut were the Carters, Cardi B and Janelle Monáe.

Obama also took a moment at the end of his list to honor jazz legend Nancy Wilson, who passed away a couple weeks ago. Wilson recorded more than 70 albums and won three Grammy Awards over the course of her amazing career spanning over five decades.

Amazing things happen when our favorite artists join forces, and they dropped dozens of amazing singles after working side by side. Let’s take a look at five collaborations we just couldn’t stop listening in 2018.

The Carters – “Apes**t

Beyoncé and Jay-Z took the world by storm with their collaborative album Everything Is Love. It featured several powerful tracks, but Apes**t was the one that really stood out.

Maroon 5 and Cardi B – “Girls Like You”

Love it or hate it, Girls Like You was the song that was literally everywhere this year and it’s one of a few tracks to cross the 1 billion mark on YouTube in 2018.

Marshmello and Anne-Marie – “Friends”

Marshmello’s sophomore album came packed with amazing collaborations, and it would be a travesty not to include one on the list.

Calvin Harris and Sam Smith – “Promises”

Calvin Harris and Sam Smith are a match made in heaven and their radio-friendly tune will have you dancing all night long.

Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato – “Solo”

2018 gave us several pretty great break-up anthems, but this is the one we just can’t get enough of.
