]]>In an official statement announcing their new LP, Taking Back Sunday promised this album offers a lot more hope and light than they’ve expected while putting it together, and they’re hoping their new songs will help people feel less alone.
“We’ve been fortunate enough, through our music, to grow up with a lot of people going through the same things at the same time, and probably feeling the same way. Our hope is that you’re able to find a little bit of yourself in this new collection of songs,” said the band in a statement.
The bulk of 152 was written during the pandemic, and the band also said it was inspired by the vast period of uncertainty that blanketed the world in recent years and the emotions they faced during those times.
Taking Back Sunday gave us a taste of things to come with the new single “S’old”, one of the ten tracks set to be featured on their new LP. 152 will come out on October 27, and it will feature the previously released single “The One”.

]]>The band described “The One” as “a sweet love song—full-on John Cusack holding a boombox”, while also revealing that the story behind is pretty grim. Shaun Cooper wrote the riff for this track on the day his grandmother died but only told his bandmates later on because he didn’t want his story to affect the song’s uplifting tone.
“Devastated with overpowering sadness, he found comfort in writing music and initially titled the riff ‘Posivibes’ in an effort to find some light through the darkness. He never shared the story of the title or how that riff came together with us until after it was complete,” the band said in a statement.
Taking Back Sunday left Hopeless Records in 2019, and “The One” is their first song under the new label. They collaborated with “Just Us Two” with Steve Aoki last year, but haven’t released any new solo music in a while. “The One” could be an indication they’re working on a new studio album, a follow-up to their 2016 record Tidal Wave.

]]>American rockers Taking Back Sunday returned with a new song “All Ready To Go” and we were so impressed that we put it on repeat for several hours. Seriously, it’s that good.
We were also impressed with “Look at You Now,” the first new single in 20 years from Britpop sensation Sleeper, who reunited recently and prepare a new album and tour.
Also on our list of best new songs of the week: Ice Cube, Marshmello, Seeb, Bastille and many more.
