Singer Steve Perry, best known for being the frontman of American rock band Journey, returns to music after a nearly 20 years hiatus with a new song. Titled “No Erasin’,” the song is Perry’s first new music in almost 25 years. The track also serves as an announcement for his third solo album Traces, which is scheduled for release on October 5th.

You can check out “No Erasin’” below.

Besides the new single, Traces will contain eight more original songs and the cover of Beatles’ “I Need You.” Steve Perry produced the record with Thom Flowers, while songwriter Randy Goodrum, guitarist John 5 and drummer Vinnie Colaiuta are some of the contributors on the album.

“Putting 30 years into 10 songs has certainly been an emotional experience for me,”  Perry said in a statement. “I started writing and recording these songs with the creative freedom that I was the only one who would ever hear them. Along the way, I rediscovered my love for music. Each track represents traces of my past, but is also a hopeful look into the future. I invite you to listen with an open heart.”

Steve Perry became Journey’s primary vocalist in 1977 and went on to record nine albums with the band. In 1996, Perry suffered a hip injury, which ultimately made him unable to perform, but he refused to get surgery. This caused other band members to issue him an ultimatum which eventually ended with Perry leaving the band in 1988. Since then, he made sporadic appearances but wasn’t musically active.
