]]>This track came out in 2006, and it was one of the singles featured on the band’s fourth studio album Eyes Open. Despite its enormous success, it never made it to no. 1 on any of the charts in the UK, and it was only the 14th best-selling single of the year in this country.
The song experienced a spike in popularity after being featured in several movies and beloved TV shows Grey’s Anatomy and One Tree Hill. Its success still came as a surprise to many people – including band’s lead singer Gary Lightbody, who discussed the new record with BBC and tried to explain the universal appeal of “Chasing Cars”.
“It’s an emotionally open song and it’s a simple song. But it’s also unabashedly a love song, and we don’t really have any others. The way it unifies an audience is the thing I most cherish about it. It’s a beautiful moment every time you play it,” said Lightbody.

The new track dropped Tuesday — “Very pleased to bring new music to you all” the group tweeted the next day.
“Time won’t go slowly, though/I beg it to last,” frontman Gary Lightbody sings. “I just wanna be here with you/That’s all I ask.”

]]>Snow Patrol announced their decision in a lengthy social media post, informing their fans they decided to postpone their tour after guitarist Johnny McDaid sustained serious neck injuries. Lead guitarist Nathan Connolly also had to take a break from performing earlier this year due to nerve damage.
“It isn’t just their guitars and pianos that would be missed. Their backing vocals are essential to our sound and their energy and spirits are colossal and are irreplaceable forces… We have hardly ever cancelled shows in 25 years together and we don’t do it lightly. We hope you all understand,” reads a statement by the band.
Snow Patrol is hoping they’ll be able to return to touring in August and perform the shows they have scheduled in Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

]]>The group plans to release a series of songs during 2019, most of which will be new versions of their old hits.
“We’re taking new approaches to them, some very different,” frontman Gary Lightbody told Billboard. “It won’t be an album exactly; We’ll just put them out over the course of the year.”
Snow Patrol also plans to do a special show in Bangor, Northern Ireland, which is the home town of Lightbody y and drummer Jonny Quinn. Following this show, described as one “nobody seen before,” the band will also do similar performances in the U.K. and Europe.
Finally, the band didn’t forget to throw in some new material in the mix. According to Lightbody, the band will enter the studio after wrapping up a tour across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, and record a follow-up to 2018’s Wildness.
“I’ve already written a bunch of songs,” Lightbody added. “When you’re on tour everything’s a little scattered, so I’d like to be static for a minute or two before I start writing. We’re going to be on tour to the first of the year, and after that, we’ll really get back to making new stuff.”

]]>“There are many types of wildness, but I think it can be distilled into two: the wildness of the modern age, all it’s confusion, illogic and alienation and a more ancient wildness,” – said band’s frontman Gary Lightbody about the album. “Something primal, alive and beautiful that speaks to our true connectivity, our passion, our love, our communion with nature and each other. This is the kind of wildness the album is centered around. The loss of it. Trying to reconnect with it. To remember it.”
Wildness will see Snow Patrol reuniting with their longtime collaborator Jacknife Lee, who produced all of band’s albums since 2003’s Final Straw. Album will be available for pre-order via band’s official website, and those who use this opportunity will have first access to the tickets for Snow Patrol’s upcoming shows. Although the band has yet to announce a tour, they will be playing on several music festivals across Europe in the summer.
