It’s been six years since Snow Patrol released their last studio album, and they’re finally gearing up for a comeback. The band’s new album The Forest Is the Path will hit the shelves this September, and they gave us a taste of things to come with the lead single “The Beginning”.

Snow Patrol hadn’t surprised us with an album since the release of Wildness in 2018, but they’re finally ready to share their new music with the world. The Forest Is the Path will be released on September 13 via Universal Music Operations, and it’s their first album in six years.

The Forest Is the Path will hit the shelves just in time for the band’s 30th anniversary, and it’s all about honoring the past while stepping into the future.

“This album took us on many uncharted routes, with sometimes weird and sometimes wonderful turns… While we honor the past we also want to cherish the present and look to the future. So this is the beginning of something, and we are so excited to share it with you all,” the band wrote on Instagram.

“The Beginning” was released as the lead single from this album, and it will be one of 12 tracks featured on The Forest Is the Path.

If we’d had to guess the most-played song of the 21st century on UK radio, we’d probably go with one of the singles released by Adele or Ed Sheeran, but this title surprisingly belongs to Snow Patrol’s signature ballad “Chasing Cars”.

This track came out in 2006, and it was one of the singles featured on the band’s fourth studio album Eyes Open. Despite its enormous success, it never made it to no. 1 on any of the charts in the UK, and it was only the 14th best-selling single of the year in this country.

The song experienced a spike in popularity after being featured in several movies and beloved TV shows Grey’s Anatomy and One Tree Hill. Its success still came as a surprise to many people – including band’s lead singer Gary Lightbody, who discussed the new record with BBC and tried to explain the universal appeal of “Chasing Cars”.

“It’s an emotionally open song and it’s a simple song. But it’s also unabashedly a love song, and we don’t really have any others. The way it unifies an audience is the thing I most cherish about it. It’s a beautiful moment every time you play it,” said Lightbody.

Snow Patrol has unveiled a new song as part of the 25th-anniversary celebrations.

The new song, “Time Won’t Go Slowly,” is part of a forthcoming project teased on the band’s Twitter.

“We’ve been working in the studio over the last few months on a project to celebrate 25 years of Snow Patrol. The first piece of music, Time Won’t Go Slowly, is coming out tomorrow” they wrote on Monday, adding that there would be “more to follow in the coming weeks.”

The new track dropped Tuesday — “Very pleased to bring new music to you all” the group tweeted the next day.

“Time won’t go slowly, though/I beg it to last,” frontman Gary Lightbody sings. “I just wanna be here with you/That’s all I ask.”

Snow Patrol recently canceled a series of European tour dates due to guitarist-pianist Johnny McDaid’s health issues.

Fans of Snow Patrol will have to wait a little bit longer to see their favorite band live since they just canceled a series of the show. The band released an official statement, explaining it was important to call off the upcoming tour and the Glastonbury performance due to a serious neck injury.

Snow Patrol announced their decision in a lengthy social media post, informing their fans they decided to postpone their tour after guitarist Johnny McDaid sustained serious neck injuries. Lead guitarist Nathan Connolly also had to take a break from performing earlier this year due to nerve damage.

“It isn’t just their guitars and pianos that would be missed. Their backing vocals are essential to our sound and their energy and spirits are colossal and are irreplaceable forces… We have hardly ever cancelled shows in 25 years together and we don’t do it lightly. We hope you all understand,” reads a statement by the band.

Snow Patrol is hoping they’ll be able to return to touring in August and perform the shows they have scheduled in Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

We are sorry to have to announce the cancellation of more shows. Our dear brother, piano and guitar player Johnny McDaid has a serious problem with his neck and after consulting with some top neurosurgeons they are all in agreement that the only course of action is immediate surgery. We are all of course worried about our brother Johnny. He is a force of nature and a giant light in our lives on stage and off and we of course will give him all the time and support he needs to recover. Johnny has been incredible in the wake of this news and has remained calm at a time when a lot of people might freak out. As for the upcoming shows: to replace Johnny it would take at least two people and with Nathan still out with nerve damage (he is slowly on the mend) he is also still unable to play guitar we feel it’s just not appropriate to continue with shows at this stage. It isn’t just their guitars and pianos that would be missed. Their backing vocals are essential to our sound and their energy and spirits are colossal and are irreplaceable forces. We are sure you all understand that at this point the most important thing is to take time to let our brothers heal and recover so we need to cancel the forthcoming shows we are billed to play in Europe this summer up to Latitude on the 20th of July to give them both time to recover. As the doctors have said Nathan needs another 4 weeks recovery we are sure that we will be able to do the acoustic tour of Asia, Australia and New Zealand in August as Nathan will very likely be healed in time. We will of course keep you informed of both Nathan’s and Johnny’s progress. We have hardly ever cancelled shows in 25 years together and we don’t do it lightly. We hope you all understand. We are sorry to miss the shows but health is the most important thing. All our love and healing to our brothers Johnny and Nathan. gL.x

Northern Ireland rockers Snow Patrol are not letting their 25th anniversary go by without a proper celebration. In a recent chat with Billboard, the band announced several interesting plans to commemorate the anniversary including new music and celebratory shows.

The group plans to release a series of songs during 2019, most of which will be new versions of their old hits.

“We’re taking new approaches to them, some very different,” frontman Gary Lightbody told Billboard. “It won’t be an album exactly; We’ll just put them out over the course of the year.”

Snow Patrol also plans to do a special show in Bangor, Northern Ireland, which is the home town of Lightbody y and drummer Jonny Quinn. Following this show, described as one “nobody seen before,” the band will also do similar performances in the U.K. and Europe.

Finally, the band didn’t forget to throw in some new material in the mix. According to Lightbody, the band will enter the studio after wrapping up a tour across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, and record a follow-up to 2018’s Wildness.

“I’ve already written a bunch of songs,” Lightbody added. “When you’re on tour everything’s a little scattered, so I’d like to be static for a minute or two before I start writing. We’re going to be on tour to the first of the year, and after that, we’ll really get back to making new stuff.”

British rock band Snow Patrol just announced that they will be releasing a new album on May 25th. Titled Wildness, the album will be band’s first release since 2011’s Fallen Empires. Alongside with the announcement, Snow Patrol revealed something of a trailer for the album, where we could hear a portion of one of their new songs.

“There are many types of wildness, but I think it can be distilled into two: the wildness of the modern age, all it’s confusion, illogic and alienation and a more ancient wildness,” – said band’s frontman Gary Lightbody about the album. “Something primal, alive and beautiful that speaks to our true connectivity, our passion, our love, our communion with nature and each other. This is the kind of wildness the album is centered around. The loss of it. Trying to reconnect with it. To remember it.”

Wildness will see Snow Patrol reuniting with their longtime collaborator Jacknife Lee, who produced all of band’s albums since 2003’s Final Straw. Album will be available for pre-order via band’s official website, and those who use this opportunity will have first access to the tickets for Snow Patrol’s upcoming shows. Although the band has yet to announce a tour, they will be playing on several music festivals across Europe in the summer.

You can check the Wildness track list below.

1. “Life On Earth”
2. “Don’t Give In”
3. “Heal Me”
4. “Empress”
5. “A Dark Switch”
6. “What If This Is All The Love You Ever Get?”
7. “A Youth Written In Fire”
8. “Soon”
9. “Wild Horses”
10. “Life And Death”
