Slipknot formed in Iowa in 1995. The metal band have been going strong since and are still releasing new music and touring two decades later. Their sixth studio album We Are Not Your Kind is due for release early next month.

The frontman Corey Taylor may be the masked face of the band, but he is also considering what will happen when he eventually decides to stop. Fortunately, he doesn’t think that his departure would equate to the end of the band.

“I mean, it’s crossed my mind as the years have gone on,” Taylor told Metal Hammer. “It’s gotten harder to do this. You think about when the end is. No one thought we’d be doing it 20 years later. If I just couldn’t do it anymore, I’d just stop, but that doesn’t mean that the band would stop. If I can’t do it then someone might be able to take my place.”

He added: “I’ve thought about it before: If the right person came around and the guys were into it then I’ll just head off. We can’t shortchange anyone.”

We Are Not Your Kind is due for release August 9.
