A dozen mad light shows, a whole bunch of dancers and one giant alien robot later.. Muse reckon they might have gone “too far.”

Muse are renowned for pushing the limits when it comes to their live shows. You can always count on them to have an extravagant light show, smoke machines and a surprise or two. When it comes to their current Simulation Theory world tour, however, guitarist Matt Bellamy reckons that they might have pushed things a little too far.

“Robots do appear at some point in the show, and, you know, they’re pretty threatening,” he told the Miami New Times. “I didn’t think we could go this far, but we’ve finally gone too far.

He continued: “At some point, you’ve got to find the limits of what you can do in a rock show. It feels like no one else is doing that in the world of guitar music. It feels pretty unique at the moment.”

Drummer Don Howard also considered the question of whether they have gone too far and said: “That’s the thing — it’s becoming unsustainable. This is very much about the spectacle, this tour, but the antithesis would be to do something that’s purely about the music and nothing else, which is most likely what we’ll do in the future. At this stage, I don’t know.

Muse will next perform at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on March 23.

British rock band Muse just announced that it’s embarking on a worldwide tour to support their upcoming album Simulation Theory, which is set to drop on November 9th.

The band will kick off 2019 Simulation Theory World Tour in the United States with a show in Houston on February 22nd. They will then continue touring across North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe before ending the run on July 22nd in Madrid, Spain.

According to the press release, the tour will feature “Enhanced Experience Package,” which will allow fans to take part in the Mixed Reality Pre-Show Party. Those who decided to take on this package will get “an interactive photo experience with memorabilia from the band’s latest videos, a VIP poster, and three original virtual reality games inspired by tracks from the record.”

You can check out the full list of dates for the 2019 Simulation Theory World Tour below. If you don’t see your city on the list, don’t worry, since additional dates will be announced soon.

Follow up to the 2015’s Drones, Simulation Theory sees Muse taking inspiration from the science fiction themes and 1980s pop culture. It was produced by Rich Costey, Mike Elizondo, Shellback, and Timbaland, while the cover for the record was done by Stranger Things artist Kyle Lambert. The band already released singles “Dig Down,” “Thought Contagion,” “Something Human,” “The Dark Side,” and “Pressure” from the album, with most of them receiving a mixed reception.
