We can count on Karol G to knock it out of the park every time she hits the stage, and she impressed us with two completely different takes on “Tus Gafitas” and “Mientras Me Curo Del Cora “ during her time on SNL.
Bad Bunny is the only SNL host to pull double duty in 2023, and he delivered an epic performance of “Un Preview” and “Monaco” in addition to hosting the show.
Olivia Rodrigo brought pop-punk energy to the SNL stage with a theatrical rendition of “All-American B—h”, which included everything from glass breaking to cake smashing.
Tate McRae gave us one of the biggest viral hits of 2023 with “Greedy” and her amazing dance skills were on full display in this electrifying live performance.

]]>The Grammy winner Smith, DJs Martin Garrix and Fred Again, and the British rapper Stormzy will be in charge of headlining Sziget next year—and they’ll be in pretty good company. Four Tet, Fontaines D.C., Louis Tomlinson, and Big Thief also made it to the first round of the Sziget 2024 performers.
Festival’s CEO Tamás Kádár said they’ve received a lot of positive feedback from the festival goers this year after improving their lineup, and added there’s already a huge interest for the 2024 festival.
“This announcement, which is only the first “package” for now, shows that next year Sziget will also feature big world stars, current artists, and newly discovered musical specialties, so that everyone will be offered a strong and exciting selection of music, regardless of genre,” said Kádár in a statement.
The Sziget Festival will return to Óbuda Island in Budapest, Hungary between August 7 and 12, 2024, and the early bird tickets are already on sale.

]]>This has been an amazing week for fans of stronger sound, with two beloved bands both surprising us with new albums. We’re talking about The Rolling Stones’ Hackney Diamonds and Blink-182’s One More Time… – two long-awaited LPs that gave us countless amazing new songs and made their way to our list of the best songs of the week.
When it comes to the rest of our list, high-profile collaborations are also having a moment. “In The City” by Charli XCX and Sam Smith and “Too Much” by The Kid LAROI, Jung Kook, and Central Cee are set to make the biggest splash, but we also added Marshmello, Pink, and Sting’s new song “Dreaming” to the mix.
Anitta, Caroline Polachek, Dove Cameron, and 21 Savage also surprised us with new music this week, so stick around and get ready to listen to their brand-new singles.

]]>The post Sam Smith & Calvin Harris Take a Wild Ride in the Music Video for “Desire” appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>Smith and Harris officially released “Desire” on July 28, and the song peaked at No. 12 in the UK following its release. We wouldn’t be surprised to see it jump to the top ten following the release of this music video, which shows the duo hitting the race track.
Smith is prominently featured in the video, and they can be seen preparing for the next big race, while singing along to the track’s lyrics, including the catchy chorus, “You are my desire/And just the thought of you is keeping me awake/You take me higher/Take me away.”
Harris isn’t featured in the video as much, but he did most of the work behind the scenes. He co-wrote the song with Smith, Sam Roman, and Matthew Burns, in addition to co-producing it alongside Burns.
Smith and Harris go a way back, and they previously topped the UK Official Singles chart with their hit single “Promises” in 2018, before collaborating on “I’m Not Here to Make Friends” from Smith’s latest album Gloria.

]]>Travis Scott’s Utopia is definitely the week’s most anticipated new release, and it’s given us more epic collaborations than we can count. Scott even managed to bring Beyonce on board, and gave us one of the album’s best songs with “Delresto (Echoes)”.
Post Malone also knocked it out of the park with his self-titled new album Austin, and we opted for “Enough is Enough” as its best new song. The English pop star Anne-Marie also dropped a new album this Friday, and her Khalid collaboration “You & I” made it to our list.
This week has been amazing for hip-hop releases, starting with “Jealousy” by Offset & Cardi B, but we also made sure to include some songs that don’t fall under this genre. From Mitski’s “Bug Like an Angel” and The Kills’ “New York” to “Desire” by Calvin Harris and Sam Smith, there’s something for everyone on our list of the best songs of the week.

]]>Several highly-anticipated albums hit the shelves on Friday and gave us songs that deserve a spot on your playlist. The K-pop girl band NewJeans teased their new EP Get Up with the release “Cool With You”, while the highly-anticipated Barbie: The Album gave us countless amazing new tracks, including Sam Smith’s “Man I Am”.
Zayn made a highly-anticipated comeback with “Love Like This”, but he wasn’t the only one building hype for his next album. Travis Scott knocked it out of the park with his new single “K-Pop” and brought Bad Bunny and The Weeknd on board.
This is only one of several A-list collaborations that made it to our list this week. Stormzy and Raye proved they’re a match made in heaven with “The Weekend”, will.i.am & Britney Spears gave us nostalgia overload with “Mind Your Business”, while Diplo partnered up with Jessie Murph & Polo G on his new song “Heartbroken”.

]]>You’ve most likely heard some of the soundtrack’s best songs long before Barbie hit the theatres. It was an important part of the film’s hype machine, and Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night”, “Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj & Ice Space, and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For” helped set the tone Greta Gerwig’s cinematic masterpiece.
These songs happen to be some of the album’s highlights, along with PinkPantheress’ “Angel” and Chari XCX’s “Speed Drive”, but that’s also part of the problem. Barbie: The Album doesn’t hide any surprises up its sleeve, and we’ve already got to hear most of it long before it came out due to the film’s aggressive promo.
Ronson obviously wanted to cast a wide net when curating this album, giving us a mix between bubblegum pop and indie rock, but this mix doesn’t always work. Kendom’s side of the soundtrack is its weakest link, with the exception of Sam Smith’s catchy “Man I Am”. Songs by Khalid, The Kid Laroi, and Dominic Fike feel like placeholders, both in terms of this soundtrack and their overall discography.
All these flaws don’t change the fact that Barbie: The Album is pretty delightful and features several catchy bops we’ll be listening to all summer long, including Ryan Gosling’s anthem “I’m Just Ken”. Some of them are even worthy candidates for the best original song at the Oscars, but you’ll need rose-colored glasses to enjoy this soundtrack to the fullest.

]]>This week marked the arrival of two of the most anticipated albums to hit the shelves this month: Janelle Monáe’s The Age of Pleasure and Niall Horan’s The Show. Both albums gave us a bunch of amazing new songs and ended up making it to our list.
This week has been pretty amazing for Latin music, and we’ve seen several of our favorite artists surprise us with new songs. Maluma is ready to welcome summer with the catchy new track “Coco Loco”, while Rosalía is making waves with the new single “Tuya”, which perfectly blends together reggaeton, Japanese instruments, and flamenco.
Our list for this week also features two songs that we’ve been waiting for a while. BTS celebrated their tenth anniversary with the new single “Take Two”, while Sam Smith and Madonna finally unveiled their highly-anticipated collaboration “Vulgar”.
Our list also features the likes of Shawn Mendes, Thirty Seconds To Mars, and PinkPantheress, so stick around and pick your favorite new song.

]]>The duo previously teased this catchy track on social media under the allies S&M, and “Vulgar” proved to be everything we’ve expected from it—and more! The song’s lyrics see the duo hyping each other up, while also celebrating their own sensuality.
Madonna recently introduced Smith on stage at the Grammy Awards, where the English singer delivered a headline-making performance of the smash hit “Unholy” alongside Kim Petras. Smith later shared a photo of hanging out with Madonna backstage, and captioned it by writing, “Overwhelmed, grateful, and inspired. Thank you for your love and support. I’ll never forget your kindness,” wrote Smith at the time.
The duo obviously hit it off and they started teasing their collaboration in May when they shared cover art that shows them posing in black and white corsets before posting a 15-second teaser of the track.
“Vulgar” isn’t Madonna’s only epic collaboration to hit the shelves this month. Just last week, she teamed up with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti for“Popular”, which appears on the soundtrack of the controversial HBO show The Idol.
