Mick Jagger gives an update on new music from The Rolling Stones.

Earlier this year, The Rolling Stones shared the brand new track “Living in a Ghost Town.” The song was a standalone single but gave fans hope that new material would soon be on its way.

During the coronavirus lockdown, Mick Jagger has been working on new material by the band, and by the sounds of it, The Rolling Stones is cooking up a new batch of songs.

During his appearance on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Jagger was asked about how the band’s new material was coming along.

“I don’t know… don’t hold you breath!” he replied. “We recorded a bunch of tracks at the same time we did ‘…Ghost Town’, so actually I’ve been finishing off the vocals and some other instruments on them, and doing some mixes. So I’m working on it.

“We’ve got to get together and do a couple more sessions on them. But we’re not really gonna get together right now. But it sounds good, what we’ve already done—[it] sounds pretty good to me.”

You can listen to Living in a Ghost Town below.

Rolling Stones are rolling again. The iconic British rock group just released a new song “Living in a Ghost Town,” which represents their first original music since 2012.

According to Rolling Stones’ frontman Mick Jagger, who made an appearance on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 on Thursday, the song was penned by him and guitarist Keith Richards and recorded in early 2019 in Los Angeles. Hear it below.

“It wasn’t written for now, but it was just one of those odd things,” Jagger shared. “It was written about being in a place which was full of life but is now bereft of life so to speak…I was just jamming on the guitar and wrote it really quickly in like 10 minutes.”

Further in the interview, Jagger confirmed that the band is planning a new studio album. He revealed that the Rolling Stones were in a studio, working on new material before the coronavirus pandemic caused a widespread lockdown.

The rock legends released their most recent record Blues & Lonesome in 2016, but the record was comprised out of blues covers. Their latest album with original songs, A Bigger Bang, came in 2005 while they also presented two new songs, “Doom and Gloom” and “One More Shot” on the 2012 compilation release GRRR!.

Jagger explained that the reason why the band hasn’t put out a new original album for so long is that they strive for greatness.

“I don’t just want it to be a good album, I want it to be great” he said. “I’m very hard on myself. If I write something or if I write something with Keith Richards or whatever, it’s going to be great. It can’t just be good.”

Rolling Stones were focused more on tours in the recent decade and were scheduled to perform live in 15 cities in the United States this summer. However, the band recently announced that the tour is being postponed due to coronavirus pandemic and that the fans will be informed about new dates.

Metallica’s drummer Lars Ulrich thanks The Rolling Stones for saving the band from breaking up.

Metallica formed in 1981 and although they have been through some terrible times together, they’ve been going strong for almost thirty years now. As it turns out, however, there was a point when the band came close to breaking up.

According to Ulrich, it was the Rolling Stones who helped them out of a rut and had them rocking on top form.

“For us, it’s all about inviting people in and making ourselves as accessible as possible to fans. That period [in 2004] certainly wasn’t easy for us and, since then, we have learned boundaries and where our breaking points are,” Ulrich told The Sun.

“That was the last time we had a real break — we haven’t shut down the band in 14 years, but we disappeared then for about a year. And then the Rolling Stones called us up and said, ‘Come and play some shows with us in California,’ and we sort of agreed you’re not going to say no to the Stones,  so that was it.”

He continued: “It gave us the way to start it back up again. Whether you’re a team in an office or a bunch of dudes in a rock and roll band, at some point people have to figure out how to get along and work as a team.

“If you don’t care, it’s easier to walk away, but fortunately we cared enough about Metallica on behalf of ourselves and the fans to figure out a way to make it function. “

He added: “I’m happy that we did.”

Mick Jagger is “feeling pretty good” in the run-up to his rescheduled tour following open heart surgery.

The Rolling Stones’ frontman was recently forced to postpone the band’s tour after receiving open heart surgery. After taking the time to recover, it looks as if Mick Jagger is ready to get back on stage.

“I’m feeling pretty good,” Mick Jagger told the Rolling Stone. “Been rehearsing a lot lately in the last few weeks … This morning [I did] a bit of gym. Nothing crazy. Then I go into rehearsal with the rest of the band.”

He also revealed what kind of material the band has been practicing. He says that they have thrown in a couple of curve balls but will also be delivering the trusty classics the fans come to hear.

“The favorite ones people like to hear are, you know, ‘Paint it Black, ‘Honky Tonk [Women]’ and ‘Satisfaction’ and things like that,” he said. “We don’t always necessarily do all of them. We sometimes drop one or two, but there’s maybe ten favorites. I don’t know how people would feel if you didn’t do any of them. I think people would say, ‘Oh, that’s a bit unfortunate, I came to hear this.’”

More than 55 years into their career, the Rolling Stones are still going strong with live performances and new music. The band’s last studio album containing original songs, A Bigger Bang, came out in 2005 and the follow up shouldn’t be far ahead if we are to trust Mick Jagger.

In a recent interview with Independent.ie, Jagger revealed he is writing new songs at the moment.

“I am writing at the moment,” said the 74 year old.

When asked whether he is preparing new music for his solo album or the Rolling Stones, Jagger replied: “I’m just writing. It is mostly for the Stones at the moment. I’m just writing. I don’t really think about what I have written, much. I just keep ploughing forward, really.”

Rolling Stones are currently in the middle of a tour across Europe, which will see the band playing dates in the UK, Germany, France, and Poland. And the band doesn’t intend to stop there, despite recent rumors about their retirement.

“I haven’t really thought about this set of gigs being our last tour, to be honest,” said Jagger while talking to The Sunday Post recently. “There is going to come a point when we don’t want to do it any more, for whatever reason – but I’m not thinking about that this summer.”

The band’s most recent studio release came out in 2016, when they presented an album of covers titled Blue & Lonesome. The album contained songs from artists like Memphis Slim, Buddy Johnson, Bukka White, and others. Blue & Lonesome received very positive reviews from the critics and debuted at number 4 at the US Billboard 200 charts, claiming the tops spot in more than 15 countries including the UK, Japan, and Germany. It also brought Rolling Stones a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album of the Year at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, their third career Grammy.

Ronnie Wood has shared a positive update on Mick Jagger’s health.

Rock stars make us believe they are invisible and no one more so than Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, who has been playing music with the Stones for over 50 years.

Recently, the frontman gave us all a bit of a scare when it was announced that a number of Stones tour dates would be postponed as he would be undergoing heart valve replacement surgery. The surgery was a success and the rock legend is now in recovery. According to bandmate Ronnie Wood, Mick Jagger is doing pretty well considering.

“Sally [Humphreys, Wood’s wife] and I went on a break to the Caribbean with Keith [Richards] and Patti [Hansen], and we sent him videos of us playing and singing ‘get well’ songs on the guitar,” Wood shared with Hello! magazine.

“[Jagger] was amused and impressed!” he added. “He is doing really well. I spoke to him yesterday and he’s feeling great.”

We are not yet certain about the rescheduled Rolling Stones tour dates but we will update you as soon as we know.
