]]> When he’s not “Rickrolling” people, the ’80s pop star Rick Astley apparently loves singing songs from other artists. After recently a cover to “Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone” by the late soul legend Bill Withers, Astley now decided to take on heavier stuff and deliver his rendition of Foo Fighters’ hit “Everlong.”

According to Astley, he wanted to do his own version of The Colour and the Shape track as the song “lifts his spirits.”

“Sometimes you just have to find a song that’s gonna lift your spirits and put you in another place, and I’ve been doing that a lot recently with music,” – said Astley. “One of the bands I always go to, believe it or not, is Foo Fighters.”

While Rick Astley’s love for Foo Fighters could be surprising for some, the fact is that the “Never Gonna Give You Up” singer has a history of sharing the stage with the band. Astley previously joined the American rockers on several occasions in 2017, including Tokyo’s Summer Sonic Festival, while the group’s frontman Dave Grohl popped-up during Astley’s recent show at Club NME in 2019.

Astley also talked about potentially teaming up with Foo Fighters for collaboration song.

“I would be well up for releasing it, maybe for charity one day,” he told NME last year.
