As part of the festivities, singer Chaka Khan, songwriter Al Kooper, and Bernie Taupin, longtime songwriting collaborator of Elton John, will be recognized with Musical Excellence Award. Influential hip-hop DJ Kool Herc and guitarist Link Wray are set to receive Musical Influence Award, while producer Don Cornelius, the creator of the legendary music show Soul Train, will be honored with Ahmet Ertegun Award.
Crow, Michael, Elliott, and Nelson received the green light from Rock Hall voters in their first nomination. Bush and the Spinners are in the following four nominations, while RATM was successful after five tries.
The list of music acts that didn’t make the cut in 2023 consists of rap group A Tribe Called Quest, singer Cyndi Lauper, heavy metal legends Iron Maiden, British rock bands Joy Division and New Order, grunge band Soundgarden, singer/songwriter Warren Zevon, and alternative rockers White Stripes.

]]>RATM shared a statement on social media in which they presented a way to keep the tickets for their upcoming tour from resellers and get them into the hands of real fans. According to the band’s recent announcement, they will fight ticket scalpers by becoming ticket scalpers themselves.
The group intends to keep 10% of the tickets for each of their shows for themselves, and later sell them for a higher price but still lower than you would pay to the scalpers. However, the difference will be that Rage Against The Machine will donate all the money they get from such tickets to various charities.
“We are confident this will help many more fans get tickets at face value and put a big dent in the aftermarket gouging,” the band says. “WE HATE SCALPING AS MUCH AS YOU DO and will continue to try to find ways to combat it,” the band stated.
RATM doubled down on their charity efforts, adding that the profits from their first three reunion shows, scheduled to take place in El Paso, Nampa, and Glendale, will be given to organizations that fight for immigrants’ rights.
2020 will see Rage Against The Machine play live for the first time in nine years. The band is set to play a number of shows in the summer in North America, before heading out to Europe in the fall.
