]]>No album this week created more commotion than Taylor Swift’s Tortured Poets and its companion piece The Anthology. She’s given us 16 new songs on the standard edition and 31 in total, but “So Long, London” is definitely her strongest new release.
This Friday was pretty slow for new releases because most artists wanted to avoid competing with Swift. That didn’t stop Pearl Jam from sharing their long-awaited album Dark Matter, which produced several amazing songs, including “Wreckage”.
The lack of major releases helped our favorite indie and international artists shine, and make it to our list of the best new songs of the week. Hozier’s “Why Would You Be Loved” is definitely worth listening to on repeat, and so are the latest singles by Rachel Chinouriri, Debbii Dawson, Kings of Leon, Kate Nash, and more.

The music business, singles are like a trailer for a movie. At least that’s how I’ve always viewed it, and my album is the ‘film.’ It felt great performing it in England so many times, where we had a great tour that year with Duran Duran and wanted to wait until the first few weeks of the year in 2016. Then Bowie passed away days into the year, and I was like ‘Whoa.’”
In case you are wondering how the new album will sound like, you can hear the leading single below. Titled “I’ll Be There,” the song was released back in 2015, and remained the only release from It’s About Time so far.
Nile Rodgers formed Chic in 1976 and immediately found success with disco hits like “Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah),” “Everybody Dance,” “Le Freak,” and “I Want Your Love.” The band was cited as influential by numerous music artists and was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inclusion 11 times.
