]]>According to the press release, Cave wrote the lyrics for all eight tracks while both he and Ellis composed the music. The duo recorded the album during the coronavirus lockdown in Soundtree studio in London and did almost all instrumentation.
“Carnage is a brutal but very beautiful record embedded in a communal catastrophe,” said Cave of the project.
Ellis added that making Carnage was an “accelerated process,” with all songs being conceived “within the first two-and-a-half days.”

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis started working in the early 1990s, when Ellis was invited to participate in recordings for The Bad Seed’s album Let Love In. He then joined the band on a full-time basis while becoming Cave’s partner on various other projects.
Ellis is also part of Cave’s second band Grinderman and the duo worked on a number of soundtracks for theater and cinema. Their work on 2005’s The Proposition earned them several accolades, including the AFI Award for Best Original Music Score.

]]>One fan posted a question on The Red Hand Files asking Cave when could he expect his next album and the musician gave him an unexpected answer.
“You can expect a new album next week. It is called Ghosteen. It is a double album,” Cave responded.
Cave also revealed that the first part of the album will consist of eight songs, while the second part will be made out of two love songs which are linked by a spoken piece.
“The songs on the first album are the children. The songs on the second album are their parents. Ghosteen is a migrating spirit,” he added while following up the first response with the album’s cover.
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds’ last studio album Skeleton Tree came out in 2016. The band had a couple of more releases after that, including compilation album Lovely Creatures: The Best of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and EP Distant Sky: Live in Copenhagen.

]]>The 61-year-old musician said that the band “nearly finished” their new record adding that he thinks it will be “amazing.”
“We’ve really nearly finished a new record, I would say,” said Cave according to an eyewitness. “And it’s an amazing thing in my opinion.”
“I’m very, very excited about it,” he added.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ last studio effort, titled Skeleton Tree, landed in September 2016. The album received critical acclaim, and was described as “breathtakingly beautiful, grief-strewn record, sometimes direct, sometimes allegorical.” It topped the charts in several countries, including Australia, Poland, and Portugal, while peaking at No.2 at the UK Albums charts and No.27 at Billboard 200.
Back in September 2008, the band also presented an extended play Distant Sky: Live in Copenhagen, which was released on 12” vinyl and as a digital download. The EP was recorded at Copenhagen’s Royal Arena, and contained songs “Jubilee Street,” “Distant Sky,” From Her To Eternity,” “The Mercy Seat.”
