I have been so honored to bring my shows to the public for the past 50 years,” said Diamond in a statement. “My sincerest apologies to everyone who purchased tickets and were planning to come to the upcoming shows. I plan to remain active in writing, recording and other projects for a long time to come.”
Diamond also thanked his fans for the support they have been giving him over the years, adding “This ride has been ‘so good, so good, so good’ thanks to you.”
Neil Diamond is one of the world’s best-selling artists with more than 100 million records sold during his career which lasted more than 50 years. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011 and will also receive a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in the summer of 2018.
Known as prolific writer, Diamond released 32 studio albums during his career, and had numerous hits which included the songs “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Desiree,” “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers,” “Yesterday’s Songs,” “Song Sung Blue,” “Longfellow Serenade,” “I’ve Been This Way Before,” “If You Know What I Mean,” and many others.
