Paramore are retiring their first big hit, song “Misery Business.” During a recent concert at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium, the band’s frontwoman Hayley Williams announced that they won’t be playing the song during their live shows in the future.

“Tonight, we’re playing the song for the last time for a really long time. This is a choice that we have made because we feel that we should. We feel like it’s time to move away from it for a little while,” – Williams told the crowd. “This is happening. We’re gonna play it.”

“This is to every bad decision that led us here. This is to all the embarrassing things we might have said. But we owned up to it, and we grew,” she added.

“Misery Business” was the leading single from the band’s second album Riot!. It is now considered Paramore’s “breakthrough” hit and the song that launched them into mainstream popularity. It performed well at the charts and reached three times platinum in the United States alone. Over the time, however, the song received criticism for its controversial lyrics.

During the Nashville performance of the song, Hayley Williams decided to skip the controversial lyrics.
