]]>This comes after Cher played a role in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, a sequel to 2008 musical Mamma Mia! Both movies use and are partially based on the music of ABBA.
The album, which borrows the name of one of ABBA’s greatest hits, will see Cher covering “Waterloo,” “Fernando,” “The Winner Takes It All,” “SOS,” and several other songs from the Swedish pop sensation.
“I’ve always liked ABBA and saw the original Mamma Mia musical on Broadway three times,” said the 72-year-old star. “After filming Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, I was reminded again of what great and timeless songs they wrote and started thinking, ‘Why not do an album of their music?'” she continued. “The songs were harder to sing than I imagined but I’m so happy with how the music came out. I’m really excited for people to hear it. It’s a perfect time.”
Dancing Queen is available for pre-order as of August 9th, and all the fans who decide to get it this way will receive Cher’s version of “Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight).”
