Madlib and Freddie Gibbs’ critically acclaimed collab album Bandana is getting a special re-release this month. The producer and rapper duo recently announced that the instrumental version of the record will be released on 31st January.

Madlib and Gibbs’ first collaboration record, 2014’s Piñata, also received a similar treatment with instrumental version Piñata Beats coming out shortly after the original.

Bandana was released in the summer, featuring guest appearances from the likes of Pusha T, Anderson Paak, Killer Mike, and Black Thought among others. The production was handled by Madlib and Gibbs alongside Ben “Lambo” Lambert, Eothen, and Alapatt. The record peaked at No.21 at US Billboard 200.

Madlib is keeping himself busy lately, also preparing a new album with his brother and rapper Oh No. The duo, known as Professionals, will release their self-titled debut on January 17th.

Freddie Gibbs, on the other hand, has been mostly focused on performing and working with other artists. His most recent solo work was 2018’s album Freddie.
