The answer was a definitive no, as the British musician insists the group is doing well with his replacements in Neil Finn (former Crowded House) and Mike Campbell (former Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers).

“No. Fleetwood Mac is a strange creature,” responded Fleetwood. “We’re very, very committed to Neil and Mike, and that passed away a time ago when Lindsey left. And it’s not a point of conversation, so I have to say no.”

“The situation was no secret. We were not happy. It was not working, and we parted company. And that is all of it,” he added.

In the aftermath of Lindsey Buckingham’s firing, several opposing reports surfaced about the true reason for his departure. According to one version, Buckingham refused to go on a tour and wanted to take prolonged time off in order to work on his solo projects. After contributing to the 1975 self-titled album Fleetwood Mac, he provided the majority of the songs and vocals for 1977’s Rumors, which ended up becoming Fleetwood Mac’s most successful album. In 1987, Buckingham decided to leave the band citing his strained relationship with some members of the band and unwillingness to tour as reasons. After several successful solo projects, he decided to rejoin the band in 1996.
