]]>“Savage Love” was originally released on June 11th, and it managed to spark a dance challenge on TikTok and top the charts in several countries around the world. The US wasn’t one of those countries up until this week, but BTS remix helped this tune soar to the top.
“Savage Love” is Derulo’s second no. 1 single, as he previously managed to top the Billboard Hot 100 with “Whatcha Say” in 2009. This is also BTS’ second entry on the chart, after their first all-English single “Dynamite”.
In addition to topping the Hot 100 chart, “Savage Love” hit no. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart. This chart was introduced last month, and it’s based on digital sales and online streaming from over 200 territories worldwide.

]]>The black and white video for their new track “Women” is pretty straightforward, and it shows them meeting up in the studio and recording this song. Despite its simplicity, their new collaboration is a touching tribute to the ladies who were by their side every step of the way.
Florida Georgia Line and Jason Derulo previously collaborated on a remix of the song “This Is How We Roll” and this video makes it clear they really enjoy working together.
“It was such an honor to have Jason Derulo on this one. It’s a song that just puts women on a platform like they so deserve. ‘Women’ is a tribute to all the women out there. We wouldn’t be here without them,” wrote the duo on Twitter.
“Women” is the latest single from their upcoming studio album Can’t Say I Ain’t Country”, which will hit the shelves on February 15.

]]>Let’s get straight to the heart of the matter. “Colors”, which Jason Derulo wrote by himself, isn’t as bad as you may think. We know it was easy to do better than Pitbull’s “We Are One (Ole Ola)”, but still.
“Colors” is actually quite catchy with a great beat, and it isn’t hard to see it ruling the clubs and radio stations during the tournament. The people who don’t care about soccer and don’t know that the song was inspired by World Cup will certainly love it, more than soccer fans.
The lyrics are a pure cliché, since Derulo sings about the recurring themes like flag waving, overcoming challenges, and celebrating unity and equality. Despite this, there are couple lines that pack punches and get you worked up and excited a bit when you hear them, like: “I’m ready, I’m ready, We still got a lil way, But look at how far we’ve come.” If there were little more moments like these in the song, “Colors” would be a great song, not just a good one.
It won’t create hype in you and makes you anticipate the competition more eagerly, which is something you can’t easily forgive an anthem. It is one of those songs that will get into your head because the amount of airplay it will receive, not because it is so awesome.
What “Colors” does great, however, is reminding you of some great World Cup anthems like K’naan’s “Wavin’ Flag” or Shakira’s “Waka Waka”.
