In a recent interview with Vogue, Love was asked if there will be “a proper Hole reunion” in the future. “No, absolutely not,” Love responded. “And you guys have gotta get over it.”

“Our old manager Peter Mensch calls once a year to ask about a reunion: ‘Hey, just doing my thing I do every year with you and Jimmy Page [of Led Zeppelin].’ And I’m so honored to be in that company, but it’s just not gonna happen,” she added.

Most recently, Courtney Love reformed Hole in 2010 by recruiting new musicians. The group released an album Nobody’s Daughter, the band’s first since 1998, and embarked on a worldwide tour.

In 2012, the original line-up of Hole had an unofficial reunion when Love was joined by guitarist Eric Erlandson, drummer Patty Schemel, and bassist Melissa Auf der Maur for a two-song after the screening of documentary Hit So Hard. This marked their first performance together in 14 years.

In the following years, Love hinted at a full reunion on multiple occasions. This included several rehearsals featuring Erlandson, Schemel, and Auf der Maur as well as social media teases.

Love also talked about plans for a reunion in 2019 and 2020, saying that she and the rest of the group are “definitely talking” about getting back together. Unfortunately, these plans never materialized, and it seems they are now thing of the past.

Hole was the ’90s all-girl response to Nirvana. Courtney Love fronted the band and gave alternative rock culture the angry feminine shake up it needed. The band first split in 2002 before reuniting for two years between 2010 and 2012. Now, Melissa Auf Der Maur has suggested that it’s about time the band returned for the third time.

“I was in Los Angeles two weeks ago and had breakfast with Eric [Erlandson, guiratist], coffee with Courtney and dinner with Patty [Schemel, drummer],” she told Visions in an interview translated from German.

“I told them of our first encounter at the airport in Seattle and the feelings I had after our tribute event. We’ve all grown older, have become more gentle, and I have the feeling that now would be the right point in time to reactivate the band once again. We did a few little gigs over the years but nothing substantial, which by the way I am quite happy about, to be honest.”

“Now it’s been exactly 20 years since I’ve left the band, and I want a piece of our glory back,” she concluded. “Hole was a great band, and it’s important to remember them properly.”
