Fans of Vampire Weekend spent six years waiting for their new album – but it was worth it! Father of the Bride is finally here, and it just topped Billboard 200 chart.

The band’s latest studio effort reached the top spot with 138,000 album-equivalent units, including 119,000 pure album sales – making it fastest-selling rock album of the year so far.

Father of the Bride isn’t the first Vampire Weekend album to reach this coveted spot. They also made it to the top of Billboard 200 with their previous records Contra (2010) and Modern Vampires of the City (2013).

This critically acclaimed record, named after Steve Martin’s 1991 movie of the same name, hit the shelves on May 3. It was released by Columbia Records, making it band’s first LP to be produced by a major record.

Before the album officially came out, Vampire Weekend shared three double singles with their fans – “Harmony Hall/2021”, “Sunflower/Big Blue”, and “This Life/Unbearably White”. The first has proven to be the biggest hit so far and made it to Top 10 of Billboard’s rock and alternative charts.
