]]>Motörhead recorded “Enter Sandman” as part of the compilation for the 1998 ECW Wrestling event. The cover was met with positive reactions from fans and critics and even received a nomination at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Metal Performance category. However, various legal disputes prevented the track from making its official digital release debut until now.
Motörhead’s “Enter Sandman” cover also received an animated music video directed by Mulberry Creative. The video features the band’s iconic Warpig mascot saving a child from an evil sandman.
“This is Motörhead’s little heard cover of Metallica’s huge global hit, ‘Enter Sandman’ – a loving homage to arguably the most recognizable heavy metal song of all time,” it says in the release.
The digital release of the “Enter Sandman” cover aligns with Motörhead Day, which is celebrated annually on May 8. As part of the festivities, the band is also releasing a limited-edition 7″ vinyl of the track and accompanying merchandise, which can be purchased on the band’s official website.
