The concert also had a charitable purpose, as all the proceedings went to the Aldrin Family Foundation‘s STEAM in order to support the organization’s education programs. The purpose of the foundations is to “cultivate the next generation of space leaders, entrepreneurs and explorers who will extend human habitation beyond the Earth to the Moon and Mars.”

As many of their fans couldn’t attend the event, the group now decided to share a clip from the concert which shows them performing the song “The Universe Alone,” from their 2015’s Paper Gods album.

 “The indelible impact of the moon landing has been one of Duran Duran’s main sources of inspiration,” said Duran Duran’s keyboardist Nick Rhodes in a statement. “In the last half-century, there have been very few events that have captured the world’s attention and united everyone in such a positive way. We are truly thrilled and honored to be a part of the 50-year celebration of the Apollo 11 mission, the performance tonight, at KSCVC where the launch took place.”
