]]>No musical this year created more buzz than Wicked, and it was only fitting for this film to get some time in the spotlight at the Oscars. Its stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande opened the show with an epic medley that included “Over the Rainbow”, “Home”, and “Defying Gravity”, delivering one of the night’s most memorable moments.
The late composer Quincy Jones was one of the recipients of this year’s Academy Honorary Awards, and the Oscars found a special way to celebrate his legacy. Queen Latifah was in charge of delivering the tribute to Jones, which included the song “Ease on Down the Road” from the hit Broadway musical The Wiz.
James Bond tribute honoring the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson was also a part of this year’s Oscars. Pop stars Lisa, Doja Cat, and Raye performed some of the hit songs from this beloved action franchise, including “Live and Let Die”, “Diamonds are Forever”, and “Skyfall”, while The Substance star Margaret Qualley danced in the background.

]]>Grande and Erivo recently co-starred in the hit musical Wicked and both received Oscar nominations for their respective performances. They’ll reportedly open the ceremony with a medley of the biggest hits from this film, but this rumor hasn’t been officially confirmed by the Academy.
Lisa, Doja Cat, and Raye, who recently collaborated on the song “Born Again” from Lisa’s debut solo album Alter Ego, will also perform at the Oscars. The hip-hop legend Queen Latifah will be a part of the show, which will feature “showstopping performances celebrating the filmmaking community and some of its legends.”
“El Mal” and “Mi Camino” from Emilia Pérez, “The Journey” from The Six Triple Eight, ”Like a Bird” from Sing Sing, and “Never Too Late” from Elton John: Never Too Late are in the running for the best original song, but they won’t be performed during the show, as a response to the Los Angeles wildfires that devastated California last month.
The 2025 Academy Awards will take place on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, with Conan O’Brien hosting the show.

Lady Gaga isn’t the only artist to celebrate her Grammy success by dropping a brand-new track. So did Doechii, who shared her new single “Nosebleeds” shortly after winning the award for the best rap album for Alligator Bites Never Heal.
K-pop star Lisa set the stage for her debut solo studio album Alter Ego with her most star-studded collaboration yet. She partnered up with Doja Cat and Raye for the catchy new single “Born Again”.

]]>Scarlet 2 Claude Frollo is named after the antagonist of Victor Hugo’s iconic novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and she chose this title for a reason.
“I feel like it connects to the story of Scarlet in some way, and if you look up his personality traits and who he is and his story, you’ll understand the whole connection… It’s like a metaphor for the people that creatives endure on a daily basis in a bigger picture, a bigger scale,” she explained in a statement.
Scarlet 2 Claude Frollo will be released on April 5, and it will be supported by the lead single “Masc”. The album will feature six more songs that didn’t make it to the standard edition, including “Acknowledge Me,” “Head High,” “Gang,” “Rider,” “Urrrge”, and “Hungry.”
Scarlet originally came out last September and it saw Doja Cat abandon her commercial pop sound to embrace hip-hop and R&B. It produced hit singles “Paint the Town Red” and “Agora Hills”, which both made it to the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

]]>This year’s headliners all had the pleasure of performing at Coachella in the past, and they’ll finally return as the main event! Doja Cat’s performance is the freshest in our memory, since she hit the stage in 2022, and brought out several guests, including Rico Nasty and Tyga.
The rest of the lineup is equally impressive, and it includes the likes of Ice Spice, Sublime, Grimes, Lil Uzi Vert, J Balvin, Peso Pluma, Reneé Rapp, Jhené Aiko, Victoria Monét, Deftones, Bizarrap, Bleachers, Bebe Rexha, Coi Leray, and Lil Yachty.
The upcoming Coachella will also mark the long-teased reunion of the ’90s pop-rock icons No Doubt. Gwen Stefani and the rest of the band went on their second hiatus in 2015, but they’ve been teasing their reunion for a while—and they finally made things official!
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will return to the desert over two weekends this spring, and it’s set to take place from April 12-14 and April 19-21.

]]>This virtual reality concert was filmed at the sold-out Detroit stop of Doja Cat’s debut arena tour, and here’s what we can expect from it, according to the official press release:
“VR concert will feature Doja’s most popular songs from The Scarlet Tour including ‘Paint the Town Red’, ‘Agora Hills’, ‘Woman’, and more. Experience the gigantic spider looming above Doja Cat during her performance and see the full band and fire pyrotechnics, right in your living room.”
Doja Cat isn’t the first rapper to partner up with Meta Horizon Worlds’ Music Valley for a virtual reality concert experience. Just last week, Jack Harlow announced he teamed up with Meta for Jack Harlow No Place Like Home: A VR Concert, filmed while he toured his home state of Kentucky.
Doja Cat: The Scarlet Tour in VR will premiere on January 20, on Meta Horizon Worlds’ Music Valley. The concert in Detroit was one of the last stops on the North American leg of the rapper’s The Scarlet Tour, which wrapped up back in December. She won’t go back to touring until June when she’s set to hit the road in Europe.

]]>In an expletive-rich story posted on her Instagram, Doja Cat said that she was “sorry” and that she was “really not happy” with her energy during The Scarlet Tour show.
“I’m so f–kin sorry New Jersey, I don’t know what the f–k that was. I’m really not happy with my energy tonight,” the 28-year-old singer wrote across a photo of crushed chips.
However, fans didn’t seem to share Doja Cat’s opinion. Replying to the screenshot of the story posted on fan account Scarlet Tour Updates, social media users who attended the concert said that it was a great show.
“WHAT IS SHE TALKIN BOUT THIS NIGHT WAS SO GOOD,” one user wrote.
“I was so happy to see her she did amazing,” another added.
Also, videos from the show indicate that everyone there had a great time.
Doja Cat is currently touring in support of her fourth studio album Scarlet. The tour will see her performing in Boston, Columbus, Minneapolis, Omaha, Detroit, and Toronto, before wrapping up the trip with a show at Chicago’s United Center in mid-December.

]]>It’s impossible to talk about Doja Cat’s new album without mentioning the controversy that shaped it. From trolling us about the album’s title and cover to receiving backlash for bashing her own music and telling fans she doesn’t love them, the Grammy-winning singer burned many bridges while trying to embrace her new alter ego.
Scarlet opens up strong, with previously released singles “Paint the Town Red” and “Demons” – and its opening track became Doja Cat’s biggest hit in recent memory for a reason. This catchy hip-hop banger perfectly captures what Scarlet is all about and it sees the Doja Cat firing back at her critics and making it clear she couldn’t care less.
Unfortunately, Scarlet never lives up to the hype of its two opening tracks and gets pretty repetitive as the songs go by. Despite her promise that she’ll go back to her hip-hop roots, Doja’s new album offers several slower, sensual tracks, such as the recent single “Agora Hills” and “Love Life”. They sound pretty tame in comparison to the rest of the tracks on this record, forcing Scarlet to lose some of its edge, while also making its sound more multifaceted.
Doja Cat’s versatility was always one of her strongest suits, and her decision to leave it behind makes Scarlet her most divisive album yet. It’s certainly a provocative and bold piece of work that perfectly reflects who she is at this point in time, but it’s too long and jumbled to fully get its point across.
