Tributes are continuing to pour in for Swedish DJ Avicii, who sadly passed away last week at the age of 28 in Oman.

Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling, achieved stardom throughout the world following the release of the 2011 hit “Levels.”

During his career, he went on to notch up 11 billion streams on Spotify and also became the first EDM DJ to stage a worldwide arena tour.

He was also nominated for two Grammy Awards and had nine UK top 10 singles, two of which rose to number 1.

It is still uncertain what was the cause of Avicii’s death, but he retired from music two years ago following health complications.

The DJ was known to have been suffering from pancreatitis which was caused due to heavy alcohol consumption. He once even said during an interview: “Drinking became routine for me, but it’s impossible to keep up touring and drinking at the same time, because you are going to crash.”

Nicky Romero, who worked with Avicii on the track “I Could Be The One,” said: “He was more of the musician in the studio than the guy that wants to be on stage, tour the world.

“I never really thought that he was super enjoying his DJ sets. It felt like he wanted to do it but he didn’t want to feel the pressure of it or be the guy that’s in the spotlight in front of thousands and thousands of people.”

Artists who have expressed their sadness online include Liam Payne, Martin Garrix, Madonna, Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris and Humble.
