The Planet Earth legend continuously surprises us when it comes to the natural beauty of our planet. Now though, Attenborough has surprised us in new and unexpected ways by reaching out to DJs to remix a recording he made 70 years ago.

The recording is three-minutes of audio and is of sacred gamelan music in 1954. He captured the piece while searching for a Komodo dragon on his BBC series Zoo Quest.

Now, he wants to revive the recording by getting it remixed so the traditional Indonesian music can be enjoyed by a new generation.

“The villagers play this concerted music with extraordinary precision and real zest,” the 93-year-old told the BBC. “So it is haunting music that you hear every night – or you did in those days, in the villages of Bali.”

Attenborough has reached out to DJs to make a remix and will judge the entries on a panel with Ghostpoet and Cerys Matthews.
