]]>An artist becomes eligible for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording, and many of this year’s candidates happen to be first-timers. That happens to be the case with the English rock supergroup Bad Company, blues-rockers The Black Crowes, early rock n’ roll legend Chubby Checker, blues singer Joe Cocker, punk rocker Billy Idol, Mexican rockers Maná, and hip-hop duo Outkast.
The list of 14 acts vying for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction also includes the powerhouse singer Mariah Carey, post-punk pioneers Joy Division/New Order, dance-pop legend Cyndi Lauper, jam band Phish, grunge hitmakers Soundgarden, the rock duo The White Stripes, and Britpop band Oasis, who recently reunited for the sold-out Oasis Live ’25 Tour.
Nominees will be voted on by a committee of 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals. The Class of 2025 will be announced in late April, while the induction ceremony will take place in Los Angeles this fall.
